Graham Robinson, Community First Responder, received a volunteer award for the fantastic work heโ€™s done with the North Notts Community First Response (CFR) group and his fundraising efforts. Graham formed the North Notts CFR group and has coordinated the group since 2013.

Graham said: "This award is for the whole team as it is a group effort.

"I was asked to set up a group for EMAS, scrounged an AED and we've gone from strength to strength from there. Weโ€™ve become an independent group, which has its own equipment and finances and has earned community appreciation."

"Some of the volunteers from our group have gone on to be doctors, nurses and paramedics. Itโ€™s great that the group has been part of that."

Emergency Medical Care

North Nottinghamshire community first responders are a team of local volunteers, recruited, selected and trained by East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust, to BTEC level 3 & 4 standards in first person on scene qualification. We are operational in our own town, from our homes, with a defibrillator, Oxygen and other life saving equipment, responding concurrently with the paramedic and ambulance to life threatening emergencies.

We are regularly called out and have on occasionโ€™s successfully resuscitated patients. We currently cover North Nottinghamshire.

Our own equipment costs on average ยฃ1500 per responder, which is why we rely heavily on donations and fundraising with the general public.
