Momentum Children's Charity Momentum Children's Charity supports children with cancer or a life-challenging condition.

Being told your child has cancer or another life-limiting condition is devastating. Day-to-day life is turned upside down, and many families feel unable to cope. Momentum is there to support the entire family during times of unimaginable strain – the children and their parents, but also siblings and grandparents. We support children and their families from all over Surrey, SW London and Sussex. Families with children facing cancer or another life-challenging condition, know we’re there for the whole journey and the whole family for as long as they need us. All families are different, so we offer individually-tailored support through our family support programme, providing holidays, trips and treats to help during the stress of treatment. We also work hand in hand with local hospitals, including St George's Tooting, Kingston, Epsom and St Peter's, to improve the facilities and healing environment for children during hospital stays. Momentum was founded in 2004 and we support over 240 families in active treatment, as well as 110 bereaved families.

Fingerprints turned into flamingos. Thumbprints became koalas. For a morning, London Zoo's Community Space was full of quiet concentration and bright colours, as families who've experienced the death of a child gathered to make postcards together.

This is one of the ways our bereavement support team, Momentum Echoes, brings families together each year: not with big gestures, but with time. Time to sit side by side. Time to talk, or not talk. Time to just be a family, alongside others who know even just a little of what you’re going through.

Then out into the zoo itself. Past leafcutter ants and towering silverback gorillas, to meet the newest arrivals: three golden lion tamarin triplets. Children who'd been quiet over their fingerprint paintings were suddenly full of chatter, planning which animal to see next.

Charlotte, from our Echoes team, said it best: these days let families be together with others who understand, without needing to explain anything. One family told us their daughter hasn't stopped talking about the trip since.

Thank you to London Zoo's Community Access Scheme for giving our families such a wonderful day out.

📣 We're recruiting for a role at the heart of how Momentum grows its support.

Momentum Children's Charity is looking for a Corporate Partnerships Manager to build the relationships that make our work possible. This is a role for someone who loves the thrill of a new opportunity as much as the trust built over years of partnership. Someone who can walk into a boardroom and talk with real conviction about what it means to support families facing childhood cancer and serious illness across London, Surrey and Sussex.

You'll be developing corporate fundraising, spotting opportunities, building proposals that land, and nurturing partnerships that grow year on year. You'll work closely with our fundraising and marketing teams, and you'll see, directly, the difference your work makes to the families we support.

If you're commercially minded, relationship-driven, and ready to bring energy and strategy to a cause that matters, we want to hear from you.

Move for Momentum is back this September, and this Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we’re dancing for 24 hours straight.

On 18th-19th September, our CEO Sarah is taking on 24 hours non-stop on the dancefloor at . And she won’t be alone: dozens of others will be joining her throughout, all dancing for families facing childhood cancer.

Every year, around 1,900 children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer. That’s 1,900 reasons to move.

🌍 Spotlight Saturday 💚 Above Par: Twenty Years of Momentum’s Golf Day

Twenty years ago, a conversation between neighbours became a lifeline for hundreds of families.

Ian and Fiona didn't set out to build a fundraising tradition. They just wanted to help. Fiona's daughter, Holly, was seven when she was diagnosed with leukaemia, and Momentum became the support Fiona leaned on through the hardest days. Ian, watching his friend go through it, thought his love of golf might raise a little money for the charity that had shown up for her.

🎉 That "little" golf day just celebrated its 20th anniversary.

What began as a one-off has grown into one of Momentum's biggest fundraising events, bringing together celebrities, corporate partners and, most importantly, the families we support. Every year, someone who has been helped by Momentum stands up and shares their story. This year, it was a dad supported through our Echoes bereavement service.

Holly is 28 now, with two young daughters of her own. Ian still shows up every year, knowing how impactful the day is, twenty years on.

Two decades. Tens of thousands of pounds raised. Thousands of families supported. All because two neighbours decided to help.

Thank you, Ian and Fiona, for twenty years of showing up for Momentum families, and to Richmond Golf Club, whose incredible support behind the scenes makes this day possible every single year.
