🌌🌱 The Karman Garden: Before, During, and After Spaceflight 🌱🌌
On August 9th, the Karman-Jaguar Earth Seeds for Space payload safely returned to Earth from the International Space Station, a powerful demonstration of how bioastronautical research can enable breakthroughs in international space cooperation.
Visible in these images are the four seed types provided by our Karman Community:
◆ Pakistani wheat – provided by Mahhad Nayyer
◆ Armenian pomegranate – provided by Dr. Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian
◆ Nigerian Egusi – provided by Dr. Temidayo Oniosun
◆ Egyptian cotton – provided by Sara Sabry
After orbiting the Earth over 100 times and traveling over 4 million kilometers, the seeds will soon be returned to the Karman Community members who provided them. The experiments now enter the data acquisition and public engagement phases.
We once again extend our deepest gratitude to and the team at for leading this remarkable endeavor, which has significantly elevated the profile and possibility of multilateral space experimentation around the world.
When launched into space, seeds transcend being mere scientific specimens; they become a living testament to humanity’s capacity to experiment, explore, and adapt beyond Earth. The Karman Project’s first crossing of the Kármán Line illuminates new ways to further our mission and expand opportunities for cooperation in space across science and culture.
As one of the Karman payload providers reflected: “For nations still finding their voice in global space dialogue, this isn’t just a mission. It’s a message.”
