25th of each month is a day to show hope..for a world rid of fear and victims of violence, coercion and control . Soroptimist clubs are driven by keen global advocates, who take action, lobby, provide hard data to the United Nations each year on local project outcomes and strive to share information and hope through funding, community action and the SIGBI Diamond Education Grant, bursaries and funding.

Local women meet each month for supper, invite charities to share their missions with us, partner with local organisations, like minded groups and councils/MPs to drive forward initiatives. Last Thursday our Education Team met wearing orange to celebrate a recent education award together. What did we discuss? Amongst the fun we had a busy agenda..
1. Painshill Walk
2.STEM in schools - Judging and Awards
3. Weybridge Community Events showcase
4. Oatlands Fair Shoot a Goal fundraiser for Hersham Ladies FC
5. SI South East Regional Reporting
6. Projects analysis of shared goal (with other Surrey clubs)
7. 2027 Charitable Event - Race Night/Fashion Show
8. 50 years club anniversary plans
9. VAWG event planning for November
10.Social: D'Oyly Carte music evening; VAWG Riverhouse Barn Exhibition; Summer party: SI Woking Charter Anniversary lunch; Afghan hospitality afternoon

"Local soroptimist women’s club delighted to receive global recognition for sciences support in local schools".

Creating fair workplaces still takes work. Gender balance is shaped by bias, tradition, and opportunity - and progress depends on all of us. STEM subjects are vital to our future, and diversity brings fresh ideas and perspectives. Encouraging young people to study science DT, maths starts early - with families, schools, and role models - but building confidence and real-world access is the bigger challenge.
Soroptimist projects WW tackle this head-on: supporting students through mentoring, careers events, work experience, bursaries, and tackling period and food poverty.

Weybridge Soroptimists are so proud to receive recognition for local "in school support" highlighted by Soroptimist International Global during the UN International Day of Education: this continues as recently as last week when we judged the Science Competition at a local school and helped motivate youngsters to study sciences, maths, technology and IT, we love inspiring young people through STEMSTAR projects and awards in Elmbridge.

We’re always keen to involve skilled women as volunteers to help us improve, create and further projects - a few hours a year could make all the difference to us and others!

What are soroptimists.. a regular question we get..

We’re women - all different, all quirky and passionate and capable in our own way 💫
We’ve got different strengths, thoughtful ideas, been on different journeys, keen to collaborate beyond home and the workplace and that’s exactly what makes a team so special. When we come together? That’s where the magic really happens. We achieve success for other women and girls.

This isn’t about being the same or fitting into a box. It’s about standing side by side, cheering each other on, lifting each other up, and having each other’s backs in life and with a focus on delivery with friends and seeing progress.

And honestly? That kind of support changes everything. Because when women unite, we don’t just grow… we shine ✨
