Great news in the progress towards a skatepark for Looe.
WE HAVE SOME AMAZING NEWS....
SAMWORTH BROTHERS COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITY FUND.
The Edwina Hannaford Skatepark working group are delighted to announce that they have been awarded a grant of £20,000 by the Samworth Brothers Community Opportunity Fund. We were made aware of this fund by Mr Paul Large, Senior site director of the Cornwall Bakery in Callington and we would like to extend our thanks to him and all of the team involved for their encouragement to apply.
The support of this well – respected local business with such a substantial award has given a boost to both our fund raising total and our ability to deliver this important project in Looe.
The Fund was originally established as the Sports Opportunity Fund in 2013 following the success of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics and a desire to support local communities to thrive through the legacy of the Games.
By giving a helping hand to young people to become more active, or to support an initiative that benefits their communities, the Fund helps improve their sense of worth, gain new skills, create opportunities and has a positive outcome for their communities.
Our skatepark ticks all of these boxes and this support takes us several steps nearer our goal of a skatepark for Looe. Our fund raising total goes into 6 figures – an important milestone to have reached in 5 months.
We would like to sincerely thank the Trustees for choosing to make this award to our project and investing in the young people in our community. We can only build our skatepark if we secure the funds to do it and that is why the support of local businesses are vital.
