It was a very enjoyable meeting up at the Nottingham Green Festival at the Arboretum on Sunday 13 September 2026 - the sun shone and the visitors were in abundance. Thanks to OurCoop Phil Fee and Maigan Frecknall from Co-op Group for great support. Lovely to have CentralNotts Co-op Party join our stand. Lots of interest and enthusiasm to learn about "More Than A Shop" both here and internationally. Our ethical positioning and support to develop co-operative business is welcomed.

Good to welcome returners who won the hamper two years ago! Also to meet old friends - let's spread our message! Lots of like-minded stands and sharing of information and ideas to make a better world.

Co-operatives East Midlands members will have a stand at the Nottingham Green Festival to take place this year at the Arboretum Nottingham on Sunday 13 September 2026 and we look forward to seeing you there from 11 am. The stand is provided by Co-op Group and Maigan plus others from OurCoop and Co-op Party will be there to give out information about Co-ops and to have a chat!

We'd love to meet up so come along and say hi! We'd welcome all co-op businesses, credit unions, housing co-ops to share their information so bring it along.

Lots of opportunities now to make a difference in how we engage together and work with shared objectives. Your views are key and members of co-ops have a great source of knowledge to address local needs.

Co-operative Congress in Birmingham was a great opportunity to learn and discuss current co-operative ways of working and solutions to the world today. Tanya Noon, Vice Chair at Co-operatives East Midlands and Jenny de Villiers, Secretary enjoyed time together along with many different representatives from Co-ops around the nation - much to be proud of. Both support our roles within the co-operative sector as Directors on Co-ops UK.

Co-operatives East Midlands visited Aizlewood Mill in Sheffield this week and were hosted by the Sheffield Co-operative Development Group who gave us inspiration as to how they use the Mill as a co-operative hub alongside projects to address equality in areas of childcare, family support, education, carers, refugee expertise and therapy activity. Chrissy Meleady and Cheryl Barrott included how they incorporate 3Cs of Fair Care, Concept, Campaign & Care Co-ops - social co-operation - do things WITH people. A Fair Care Mark in a multistakeholder model maintains standards and empowerment. Thanks to all the co-ops who came along, It was also excellent to visit Principle 5 with Steve Thompson - an educational resource and there is no doubt of his dedication.

The Head of Community Development at Sheffield Council joined the meeting to give support.
