It was a huge honour to present the Health and Wellbeing Award to Scottish Veterans Residences (SVR) on Wednesday night at the Scottish Veterans Awards. When we won this same category in 2023, it was so important to us that we then sponsor the award to ensure that organisations doing the work get the recognition.

All finalists were superb, massive congratulations to everyone ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Sunshine, team games, conversations and some brilliant young people at Bellahouston Academy.

Our mentors, Lisa Gemmell and Lee Davidson, were in delivering Kitbag sessions and staff training as part of the transition support for young people moving from primary into high school.

We took it outside, built some connections, had a few laughs, and gave the young people a chance to get to know the team theyโ€™ll be working with.

Transitions matter. Starting that relationship early matters even more.

Proud that our team have had this opportunity another year to help build those connections.

Can we all please welcome Lynzy Savage who is a finalist in the Military Charity Fundraiser award category Sponsored by Prestonfield House.

I'm a finalist for the Military Charity Fundraiser. I got involved with FAB Families Activity Breaks initially as a beneficiary and attend the camps with my son. I lost my husband, Cpl William Savage in Afghanistan 2013 while pregnant with our son Connor.

FAB - Familiesโ€™ Activity Breaks is a non-public funded, tri-service charity providing fun and challenging activity camps around the UK for bereaved Military families.

I then stepped into a volunteer role with the charity as I wanted to give back after being so well supported. I love working alongside such passionate amd caring volunteers and families, FAB is really like one big familiy. In 2025 we were awarded a salary grant from The Veterans Foundation which lead to me stepping away from my job in the NHS and becoming a consultant for the charity. I love being able to give back and be part of a community that it so strong and resilient and to be able to help raise funds for the fantastic work the team at FAB do its something im extremely grateful for.

To be shortlisted for this award is truly an honour, there are so many fantastic people doing amazing work and I feel very privileged to be shortlisted alongside some of them this year.
