A bit of background on the tour...
When I originally planned to cycle the length of the UK, I had a bike and a dream, then that bike was stolen. Because of this, I couldn't train, and I didn't make the initial window I had planned.
When I then decided I was going to do this *slightly* ambitious route to support Blood Cancer charities, I made sure I was prepared. I spent weeks planning the tour, making lists of what equiptment I would need, made diet plans to hit my ideal weight target (75kg), and built an entire training and workout schedule. I was ready, in my head I had figured out everything I could think of, I made the fundraising pages, reached out to the charities, posted it online and went live with my plan!
Then I realised, I still didn't have a bike....
That day I found one nearby and picked it up, you can see from the pictures it was a bit of a be**er! I cleaned it up and got it road worthy, it would get me around for now while I work towards a better one. The next day, I took it out for 35 miles to really break it in and kick of the training, this was also the first time I had ridden a bike in around 6 months. Unfortunately I hit a snag the next day when the front fork bearings exploded and detached the frame, but it hasn't stopped me!
My mum (in her infinite wisdom) told me, if this is what I've got I may as well make the best of it, so last night I spent some time making the ol' girl a bit prettier. I've never painted a bike before, but I am happy with how it looks, and I'm sure I'll keep adding to it!
Right now I have is a bike, a goal, and a cycling jersey, everything else I need I will be getting over the coming months, and the training will become easier.
Until then, I am going to keep making the best of it, keep putting the miles in, and keep working towards my goals!
