East Grinstead Meridian Rotary

16/10/2026

Just one more week to get your tickets for the virtual race night at Sackville School. Meridian Rotary has chosen to raise money to help the school in their planned conversion of the disused Caretaker’s bungalow. The school wants to create a centre for students who are struggling with the constraints of a mainstream education. The aim is to provide a teaching area, kitchen for Food prep skills, a workshop and vegetable garden. The students can gain certificates for skills gained which may help get an apprenticeship.
Although the event is on 31st October, Paella Fella need to know numbers in advance so next Friday 23rd October please. Order online or contact [email protected]

In case anyone is unsure. This event at Sackville School involves watching DVDs of genuine horseraces on a projector screen. The races are genuine events but the commentary has no horse names, venue or previous form. There will be 8 races with an interval half way when pre ordered paella is served by The Paella Fella. It is a game of chance as form cannot be studied. Bets of £1 can be placed - 50p to the fundraiser and 50p to the prize fund which pays out to those who bet on the winning horse.
Tickets must be purchased by 23rd October so that The Paella Fella knows what paellas to bring on the night.
There is a licensed bar and raffle and Meridian East Grinstead Meridian Rotary are raising money for Sackville School's plan to repurpose the empty caretaker's bungalow into an Alternative Provision facility.
No tickets on the door!!

Meridian Rotary have chosen to support Sackville School. They want to convert a disused caretaker’s bungalow and garden into a centre for some of the children who need an Alternative Provision in their education. This means, quote :

“Basically we provide interventions for students struggling with the constraints of a mainstream education. They have some time with us as a reset and then are reintegrated back into lessons.
As they get older we provide a more bespoke timetable including vocational studies like cooking, life skills and trade skills.
Our plan is to prepare students, who do not fit into the traditional academic pathway, for a more vocational career. We work with colleges, a local farm and encourage work experience to help them get a step ahead for apprenticeships and a working life…”

Please support our first event a Race Night. Tickets must be purchased before 23rd October so that The Paella Fella will know how many portions to bring 😋

We often get asked what Rotary does. Well, it is one of the world's largest and most successful global membership and humanitarian service organisation, with over 1.2million members in 35,000 clubs in over 200 countries. It has a unique position of being rooted within our own communities, but with a global outlook, ready to tackle challenges at home and abroad.
Below is a link to the latest magazine which illustrates how Rotary works with organisations throughout the world.....

If you fancy learning more about Rotary at a local or international level for yourself or your business then just send a message....we are a friendly bunch and would love to expand our membership. More members means we can do more for our community.....

After catastrophic flooding tears through Nepal and Tibet, Rotary-linked charities mobilise to provide shelter, clean water and longer-term support.
