Step By Step School This is a page for Step By Step School, Sharpthorne, East Sussex. We are just outside of East Grinstead.

Step by Step is a small independent day school for pupils with autism. We provide specialised teaching for Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form pupils, aged 4 to 19, who have a diagnosis on the autism spectrum. We help pupils develop the skills, understanding and confidence to reach their full potential and, as far as possible, lead full and independent lives. The defining aspect of our school is 1:1

teaching for each pupil throughout the school day based on
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and supported by other complementary methods including:

Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS)
Signing
Speech and Language Therapy
Occupational Therapy

Oak Class had a great trip to Deers Leap last week to try out the low ropes. They enjoyed the walk across the fields in the sunshine to get to the woodland area.

Once there, the pupils learnt how to wear a harness and how to clip it to the ropes to keep them safe. Then they put on their helmets, ready to show off their amazing balancing skills to get across the ropes and the wobbly bridge.

Well done Oak Class for a fantastic trip!
