We were pleased to host a training course at our base this week, led by Jess Butright (pictured centre), a Lecturer Practitioner & Paramedic from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust Training Unit.

Jess delivered a FREC4 course for EEAST co-responders, including some Emergency Responders from NARS and colleagues from RAF Honington.

The course covered a range of pre-hospital skills and knowledge, including interpreting ECGs, recognising and assessing serious medical and trauma incidents and developing clinical decision-making skills when dealing with emergency patients with practical and written exams.

It was a fantastic course and a great opportunity to share knowledge and learn alongside colleagues from different emergency services.

We have similar courses coming up in the next few weeks for more of the co-responder teams, continuing our commitment to developing skills and knowledge.

Today marks one year since we launched our NARS Emergency Responder assisting East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust scheme and what a year it has been.

In that time, our Emergency Responders have:

Attended 855 taskings

Arrived on scene first 87% of those incidents

Arrived, on average, 6 minutes before an ambulance crew

Our Emergency Responders has grown too with two vehicles available are regularly among the first people arriving at some of the most serious 999 calls across Norfolk, providing vital care while ambulance resources make their way to the patient.

NARS Emergency Responders are tasked to medical and trauma emergencies across the region, responding under blue lights to provide care to patients in some of the most time-critical situations.

Equipped and trained to deliver life saving skills, they can begin assessing and treating patients while ambulance crews and other emergency resources are on their way.

If you’ve been an active East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust CFR for at least 12 months, we want to hear from you.

By the end of today, we will have had FIVE different NARS call signs out on duty assisting East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, something we could have only dreamed of a few years ago.

Our first Critical Care team was out in the early hours, followed by our second Critical Care team starting at 7am. Also we have two Emergency Responder teams on and also operational today is our First Responder team.

Five call signs. Multiple team members. One shared purpose: saving lives across Norfolk.

It is incredible to see how far NARS has come, and even more exciting to know that we are still growing.

More teams. More capability. More lifesaving care when Norfolk needs it most.

We’re officially SOLD OUT!

Just two weeks to go until our NARS Charity Ball at Caistor Hall on Saturday 10th October, and we really can’t wait.

Nearly 300 guests will be joining us as we take you around the world for what promises to be a fantastic evening, with some brilliant acts, great entertainment and plenty more planned.

There’s been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes to put this night together, and it’s fantastic to know the room will be full.

Most importantly, it’s a chance to celebrate the lifesaving work of our incredible NARS volunteers and supporters, and to say thank you to everyone who helps us continue what we do.

Two weeks to go. See you at the ball!

Thank you to everyone that came last night to the Railway Tavern for our NARS Charity bingo night, a special mention to Paul Sanford for allowing us to use his venue and for calling the bingo numbers!

The monies raised goes to our office manager Diane’s London Marathon fundraising challenge where she is taking in her first marathon in 2027!
