💖 Barbara and Amaryllis 💖
We are so sad to announce the deaths of two loyal and much loved Singing For All ladies, Barbara Tildesley and Amaryllis Snook.
💖Amaryllis was a part of SFA from the start, such an elegant lady with a twinkle in her eye and lots of tales to tell about her younger days, her late husband, and her beloved family. Her favourite song to request was 'fields of gold'.
💖Barbara was a dedicated member of SFA from the week she moved to Easingwold. She regularly entertained the group with her own songs and poems, as well as her medleys of songs from the shows at tea break. Her poems were published in Easingwold Advertiser many times, and she appeared in The Press in York when she was chosen by Big Ian - to be the most senior performer at the 'forever young ' festive (picture below with Amaryllis who came along too!), and also performed at 'a night to remember', speaking to the huge crowd about how much Singing For All meant to her.
Both ladies loved to take part in my intergenerational concerts and events, bridging the generation gap with a love of music, kind hearts, and often cheeky smiles. Nicknamed 'the yeah girls', as they were apparently not allowed to say 'yeah' when they were young, they joined in heartily with the 'yeahs' in our signature tune, 'Monday Monday'.
We will raise a cup of tea in their honour at Singing For All and send much love to the families of both ladies at this sad time.
