It’s quiet again this week as we put our shop and Fleece & Fibre Hub back together after Tangled Fibre Festival and our alpaca shearing day yesterday. Drop in for Open Craft on Tuesday evening if you fancy or get in touch if you would like to bring a group to Birkhill.

Wow! What a day! From the buzz of Tangled Fibre Festival and our third Fleece Market success, we delved straight into shearing day 2026. Big thanks to Nigel Wood .wood.14 and team yet again for his precision and professionalism. Huge thank yous are due to our wonderful volunteers - Magdalena, Nicky, Jodie, Robin, Jean and Kari, you are stars! Sunshine, Lara and Mags could not have done it without you. Lucius, thanks for your brawn in moving things about. Campbell, thanks for the pizza! It must be said that the fleeces were exceptional this year. We have already earmarked four for Magdalena’s yearly Alpaca Academy workshop series and nominated a couple for blending . Stay tuned for Autumn yarn news! Others will be processed here with our Lottery-funded Woolly Tuesday Makers Group. Free spaces are up for booking on our Eventbrite. Join us!

We are ! The fleece market is set up, our Birkhill Makers Groups’ wares are on display alongside Sunshine’s My Mama Knits stall and it’s all systems go. Come see us in the Scout Hall, Galashiels!

It’s quiet this week as we prep and pack for Tangled Galashiels fibre festival, where we will be running their Fleece Market. Come see us at the Scout Hall, 13 St John’s Street. We will be there all day both days and we are all stocked up with gorgeous, locally-sourced fleece at all different prep stages - from raw to carded - thanks to our Woolly Tuesday & Makers Groups attendees.
