🖤🧡 T O U G H M U D D E R 🧡🖤

We are absolutely delighted to share that the total amount raised from the Tough Mudder was an incredible £2,200! 🎉

A huge thank you to Andy, Sandra, and the team for taking on this challenge and choosing to support our very own superstar, Tommy. Life isn’t always plain sailing, but knowing we have such an amazing community behind us brings so much comfort and strength.

This fantastic total is, of course, thanks to every single person who donated. We are truly grateful for each and every sponsorship contribution. Your generosity means the world to us and will make a real difference in helping Tommy thrive and live his very best life.

These photos capture the determination, teamwork, mud, and fun that made the day so special! 📸
Thank you again to everyone involved—you’ve helped make something truly incredible happen. ❤️

Onto the next event… stay tuned for more details! 🕺✨

Disabled parking spaces are not there because someone is running late, doesn’t have much time, or is only going to be a minute. They are there because some people genuinely cannot access school, shops, appointments and everyday life without them.

What looks like a convenient parking spot to one person can be the difference between a manageable school run and a distressing, overwhelming experience for another.

There seems to be a common assumption that parking in a disabled space for a few moments causes no harm. The reality is that this assumption often comes from a position of privilege: never having to think about wheelchair access, ramps, specialist vehicles, mobility aids, keeping a disabled child safe around moving traffic, or the many additional challenges that can come with supporting a disabled child or adult.

For those who rely on these spaces, accessibility is not a convenience. It is a necessity.

Those who follow our page will know that we usually try to keep things positive, hopeful and upbeat despite the challenges we face. However, sometimes barriers need to be talked about.

People make mistakes. I understand that. But when the issue has been raised multiple times and the impact explained, it becomes difficult to view it as anything other than a conscious decision to prioritise convenience over consideration for others.

At that point, it is no longer a misunderstanding. It is a choice.

Before you move on, take a look at that gorgeous wee boy.

That’s who we’re talking about.

Not just Tommy, but every disabled child and adult who relies on accessible parking to get where they need to be safely and with dignity.

Sometimes it’s worth remembering that behind every disabled parking space is a person who needs it. 💙

P.S. I did have a final sentence involving a hedgehog and a jobby, but I’ve decided to keep this post polite. 😇

🪩🎧 ARE YOU A DJ? OR DO YOU KNOW ONE? 🎧🪩

Right, we’re going to try shameless begging… but with glitter. ✨

As some of you know, we’re currently putting the finishing touches to Scarlett & Tommy’s Wheelie Big Dance-a-thon, a 24-hour challenge taking place from 7th to 8th August. We’re almost ready to share all the details, but there’s just one thing we’re still hoping to find before the big announcement… an amazing DJ who might be willing to donate a couple of hours of their time and help keep the dance floor moving.

Are we actually capable of haunting your dreams and cursing your internet connection? Probably not. But wouldn’t you rather help two gorgeous children in need than gamble on the comfort of your next jobby? We thought so. 😜🪩👻

The truth is, we really do need help.

Life for Scarlett and Tommy isn’t easy. Every day involves equipment, care, therapies, appointments and adaptations that most families never have to think about. This fundraiser is about helping us continue to provide the things that give them comfort, opportunities, inclusion and the best quality of life possible.

The Wheelie Big Dance-a-thon is about so much more than fundraising. It’s about two amazing children, two families coming together, and a friendship that has grown through shared experiences, challenges, laughter and determination. ❤️

So if you’re a DJ, know a DJ, have a cousin who was a DJ in 1998 and still owns some decks in the loft, or know anyone who could help bring some party vibes for a couple of hours, please get in touch.

And if you can’t help directly, a share could put this post in front of exactly the right person.

Most of the amazing support we’ve received has come from a friend of a friend of a friend seeing a post and saying, “I know someone who can help.”

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. ❤️

I saw BBC News post an article today about public funding being provided for free scooters and helmets for children.

I understand the thinking behind the initiative. Encouraging children to be active, spend time outdoors and develop healthy habits is a positive goal, and I can see why many families will welcome it.

My own child is in Primary 3 and was among the children who were to receive them. However, because of his disabilities, he cannot use a scooter himself. He sat and watched as his peers received something exciting and fun, knowing it wasn’t something he could take part in.

This isn’t criticism of the children receiving them. Every child deserves opportunities and support, and I hope they enjoy them.

But as the parent of a disabled child, it’s hard not to feel frustrated when my child still faces barriers to accessing his own home, while our family is left fundraising for essential needs that would provide greater dignity, inclusion and independence.

It raises difficult questions about priorities. While public money is being invested in initiatives like this, some disabled children and their families are still fighting for support with the most basic aspects of daily life.

This isn’t about taking anything away from other children. It’s about recognising that no family should have to campaign, appeal and fundraise simply to secure what should be fundamental access and equal opportunities for their child.

Many families are exhausted from constantly having to prove their child’s needs and fight for support, while watching funding be found elsewhere. Disabled children deserve better than being left behind.
