The final day of Ealing’s third annual Book Festival saw a celebration of art and architecture.

Walking tours around Ealing marvelled at Ealing’s architecture while in the first talk to start the day, Andrew Graham-Dixon made us look at the world through the eyes of Vermeer in his new book about the artist “Vermeer: A Life Lost and Found”.

Architectural historian, Dan Cruickshank followed with his new book The English House - a fascinating insight of the English house through eight highly contrasting buildings.

And with Lucy Steeds we travelled to sun-drenched Provence in the 1920s with her new novel “The Artist” - central to the story a reclusive painter - exploring themes of creativity, gender and overlooked female talent.

Thanks to and for hosting these events today and for Notting Hill & Ealing High School for supporting the talk given by Lucy Steeds.

Also thanks to for roving throughout the five days of the Festival with his amazing renditions of famous, as well as his own, poems. ✊

Day Four of the Ealing Book Festival (Saturday 2 May) was spent at Questors Theatre. The day started with an illuminating talk by Simon Jenkins on America, followed by an equally fascinating talk about Harold Wilson by former MP Alan Johnson in conversation with John Sergeant. Family fun got us all laughing with Welcome to Weird Street with Stephen Mangan and Anita Mangan. Blake Morrison talked about Memoir writing with Georgina Godwin and we ended with Oyinkan Braithwaite in a thought provoking talk with Abi Daré, an event in memory to the late Eric Huntley. Thank you to all our authors and chairs. Thank you to Alan and Elaine for leading two literary walks of Ealing and our Festival poet James Pendle for entertaining audiences in between events.

Thank you and for your support of the Festival and to Notting Hill and Ealing High School for support of Welcome to Weird Street.

Day Three of the Ealing Book Festival with a focus on retail creativity and the music of Manchester and Oasis. Through brilliantly chaired conversations we explored how shopping, our high streets and the world of music shape us. Thank you Mary Portas in conversation with Lorraine Heggessey and John Robb talking to Mark Cooper.

The evening finished with twenty talented local authors who have published their amazing stories 🙌 An action packed event brilliantly compered by Jojo Silva.

Thank you to the University of West London for another great day, to Waterstones Ealing for the very popular book signings and Savills for your support of the Festival. Thank you also to for supporting our talk with Mary Portas and for supporting the talk with John Robb.

Day Two of Ealing Book Festival (30 April 2026) and five authors took to the stage at University of West London.

Farhana Islam and Kate Pankhurst who spoke to Ealing school children as part of our schools programme. Robert Macfarlane spoke about his new book Is A River Alive? to Ben Morris (himself a champion of the river Brent). Naz Shah MP spoke about her new book Honoured: Survival, Strength and My Path to Politics and Mel Giedroyc got to the heart of matters with William Boyd and his recent book The Predicament.

We loved working with the University of West London. Thank you to St Benedict’s for supporting the William Boyd event and thank you to Clean Up the River Brent for your association with the Robert Macfarlane event. Thank you to Waterstones Ealing for helping with our book signings and to our roving Festival poet James Pendle who offered those queuing a poem while they waited. And finally thank you Savills for your sponsorship of the Festival.
