Nina's Haircut for Charity

Today Nina packed up her hair so it was safe and dry in transit, then popped along to The Hungry Caterpillar to send it off. We hope it will make a huge difference to a little girl battling the horrible illness.

Today's the day!!!

Nina's washing her hair now to make sure it's in the best possible condition for donation, the hair dresser is on her way, and in about an hour the chop will begin.

Nina's sponsored cut has been inspired by a 9 year old who is currently battling with a rare form or cancer. The hair is being donated to the Little Princess Trust who make wigs for children that lose their hair during treatment. All funds raised are being split between the Trust, Children's Cancer North who have supported the girl and her family, and the family themselves so they can make wonderful memories.

Its Nina's last day before she cuts the hair off for The Little Princess Trust and she asked to go to the hairdressers!!!! Thankfully it was only Elizabeth's in the new 1950's town at Beamish Museum.

Nina's fundraising had a brilliant boost at the weekend thanks to the generosity of 2nd Dipton Brownies.

The group held a '20p day' to raise funds for their activities, then very kindly donated half to our campaign.

Less than a week to go until Nina's big hair cut, and she's really excited!

We'll post some before, during and after pics on Wednesday evening while the cut is ongoing, but for now here are some before and after pics from the last time Nina donated to The Little Princess Trust during the covid lockdown in May 2020.

Wow! Thank you all for your support. Nina can't believe there's already been so many kind donations and people sharkng our posts to spread the word about her cut.

Today's big news - the date has been set for the big cut and there's not long to go!! - Nina is making sure her hair is in great condition, ready to be sent away to The Little Princess Trust once the locks have been chopped off on Wednesday 24th July. We'll be posting pics before, during the cut to keep you updated.

Meet Nina - our happy, caring, kind and exceptionally loving 13 year old daughter.

In her spare time, Nina volunteers as a young leader at a local Brownie Girl Guides group, and recently heard the devesting news that one of the Brownies has been diagnosed with a rare liver cancer. Despite undergoing gruelling treatments the 9 year old is battling the life threatening illness with an inner sparkle and her infectious smile.

Nina decided she wanted to do something to help the family and the charities who support young girls who have to undergo such traumatic events.

Having such gorgeous thick hair, Nina decided the best way she could help would be to donate it to The Little Princess Trust who make real hair wigs for girls who loose their hair while undergoing lifesaving treatments. The most popular wigs requested are for long hair but the trust struggles to get donations of hair longer than 12 inches. Nina has been growing her hair for months and is so proud to be able to donate around 17 inches!

Nina's locks will be getting the chop in July and she hopes to raise lots of money that can be split between the Little Princess Trust, Children's Cancer North who are supporting the family, and giving some to the girl's family so they can make memories with her.
