19th Durham Scouts & Nevilles Cross Explorers 19th Durham Scouts | Neville’s Cross

We are a local scout group based in Neville’s Cross, Durham. John’s Church in Neville’s Cross.

19th Durham Scout Group is now a thriving group with Beaver, Cub and Scout sections that meet regularly at the Nelson Hall Scout Hut, set in a green area behind St. The 19th Durham Scout Group opened in January 2006 following the merger of the 1st Durham Scout Group and the 9th Durham Scout Group. This helped both groups: the 9th Durham group had a building but no Cub or Beaver sections and declining Scout numbers, while the 1st Durham group had good Beaver numbers, but no building of its own.

Last week was a special one for our Explorers! Alongside investing our newest members, we presented some of our existing Explorers with their Chief Scout’s Platinum Awards.

The award recognises their commitment to developing skills, volunteering, physical activity and adventure, alongside exploring international, community and values activities.

We were pleased to be joined by Greg, our County Lead Volunteer, and Jayne, our District Lead Volunteer, to mark the occasion.

A big welcome to our new Explorers and congratulations to our award recipients. You should all be very proud!

Last week we had the pleasure of investing 5 new members into our Explorer unit. After joining us in September from scouts, these 5 young people decided we’re not a bad bunch and chose to stay.

After a fantastic Confido, we’re sure everyone is a little tired today. Confido had a year off last year due to weather calling a halt at zero hour.

Confido was back bigger and better than ever with over 1,200 participants coming together from across the county for one massive party weekend.

More photos will be posted from the event organisers soon, but until then, here is a couple we managed to grab.

Whilst the sun was rising, and the birds were tweeting, a chorus of Scouts and Explorers filled Moor House. It may only be 7:20am, but many are ready for the day. Breakfast soon!
