Real voices from real parent carers ❤️
The only way I can describe it to someone who doesn’t understand is this…
My child needs power, and they plug into me.
They plug into me to regulate.
To feel safe.
To be fed.
To stay well.
To communicate.
To get dressed.
To get where they need to be.
To navigate the world.
To calm down.
To wake up.
To go to sleep.
To have fun.
To feel secure.
To get through the hard moments.
To keep going.
And I will always let them plug into me.
But the thing is, a battery can only last so long without being recharged.
I’ve gone six and a half weeks without a proper charge.
My battery is officially empty.
So if I seem drained, tired, quieter than usual, or completely done in it’s because I’m running on reserve now.
The generator has kicked in.
And somehow, like parent carers always do, I’ll keep finding enough power to keep them going even when there feels like there’s none left for me.
