Moving On Durham are taking part in the blue token scheme! 💙

From now, local Tesco shops will be offering the opportunity to choose us in their blue token boxes and help to raise money to support us and our work.

Moving On Durham works to support young people aged 16-25 who may be experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, homelessness.

If possible, please choose to support us at your local Tesco shop! 😊

Here's a look into the food we order monthly to put together food parcels for our young people who may be struggling with maintaining their own shopping. Our packages contain the basics to make easy, healthy and filling meals for our young people. Not only is this vital for their health, it also helps to promote independent living skills, such as cooking and portion management. 🍎🌟

Today is , an opportunity to make sure the voices of those at risk of, or already experiencing, homelessness are heard.

At Moving On Durham, we have been working hard since 1996 to provide support, care and a safe place to live for young people in to set them on a path to remain out of homelessness as they move into independent housing.

None of this would be possible without the continued support from fundraisers and donations from the public!

If you are able to, please consider supporting us here:

After clearing out some no longer needed tech from our office, we were able to gift some to our young people. They were thrilled with the gift and shocked that they were able to keep it for themselves. Laptops like this will be so useful in helping them to thrive through education and open new doors to careers as well! 💻❤

Some of our young people had the opportunity recently to take a trip to St James Park and get a guided tour! They learned about the history of the club and what happens on match day, as well as getting a look inside the changing rooms, managers dugout and the directors suite. They all had a great time and are now proud Newcastle supporters! ⚽️🌟

A group of our young people took a wellbeing trip to Bamburgh! It was a chance to get some fresh air and make some new friends in similar situations. They walked 3.5 miles along the beach and headed to Seahouses for some fish and chips after! 🌊🐟

Making healthy lifestyle changes is super important for our young people, not only working to improve physical health but also mental health too. Here, a member of our support team went with a young person to assist them in buying fresh smoothie ingredients as they work towards some healthier lifestyle choices! 🌟🍓

Today is .

Our young people come to us with different backgrounds, experiences and trauma, and it can be incredibly difficult for them to adjust to independent life. This puts them at risk of developing suicidal thoughts. To combat this, our hard-working support team and mental health workers ensure our young people always feel listened to and that their mental health concerns are taken seriously.

If you or anyone you know is experiencing suicidal thoughts, here are some important contacts to keep in mind:
