The bowls club was formed in 1924 and, apart from the war years have played in the Swansea Bowling Association ever since. We boast a membership of approx. 22, the majority of whom have only ever played for Dunvant. Our bowling green, situated within the confines of Dunvant Park, has always been regarded as one of the best in Swansea. Unfortunately, in latter years, and due to council cutbacks, th
e facilities have suffered from lack of maintenance. It is our aim to improve both the green and pavilion within the foreseeable future. The Club was formed in 1924 by a group of men made up in the main of miners, steelworkers, labourers and farmers. During its 100 year existence, the Club has played and won many trophies culminating in 1967 by winning the First Division Championship of the Swansea Bowling Association. The season is hectic, with League matches being played on a Saturday, Blackiston Cup matches on a Monday, Mid Week League on Tuesdays, Graham Jones Double Fours on a Monday and Keith Jacob Super 9 and Walter Withey Triples matches on a Thursday. All in all the team will play on average 60 matches throughout the season. We also compete in the all Wales championship, the Carruthers Shield, in which we compete against teams from different Associations.
