Lots of snowdrops are up and the daffodils are starting to make an appearance. We are so excited and looking forward to all the other 500+ bulbs we put in coming up - it will be a beautiful display! Careful when walking near the tree bases in the grass as we now have some delicate purple naturalising crocus coming up - its just a few for now but there should @40 eventually.

The garden is looking SO different now! Nearly all the weeds have been cleared away and thanks to a tremendous effort by all the ivy wall has gone! There are now lots more shrubs and hundreds of daffodils, tulips and other bulbs have been planted so spring should be lovely.
Very big thanks to Val, Bev, Jacqui, Pauline, Fiona, Trish, Lucy and of course Patrick and our friendly neighbour Pete for their chainsaw skills!

We have been clearing lots of the ivy that has been choking the ground, walls and trees and have accumulated (another) big pile that needs disposing of. Helpers have been taking large quantities to the dump but if anyone can help out by offering to put some in their garden bins that would be great!
The waste pile is next to the electricity station, feel free to take some!

All the autumn bulbs have now arrived. And now that the dead trees etc have been trimmed back,, its the ideal time to plant out the shrubs and perennials that I have been looking after in my garden since it was far too dry to risk putting them in earlier.
We would appreciate help in doing this - there is a LOT of planting to do!
In addition to our normal Monday at 10am, how about this Sunday @ midday for a planting session?

For anyone interested in the Community Garden and what we are aiming to achieve, several of us are now meeting every Monday at 10am to work on the garden at the Village Hall. If you are new to gardening, are unsure of what to do when , we can collectively offer a lot of expertise, so come along and learn on the job!

Next month we will be planting the spring bulbs so if anyone wants to help out, just let us know. Not sure when yet, depends when they arrive, but we have crocus, narcissus, daffodils, tulips, aliums, chinodoxia, muscari, pushkinia. I think thats it....

The main border is coming along, continuing the good work by Equans/NKDC and more plants have been put in. We are in desperate need of more volunteers, especially to help with watering although the situation is getting dire as the water butts are just about empty and the beck is very low so makes filling watering cans challenging to say the least. However, many thanks to Pete, who backs onto the border for his help in watering!
A lot of money has been spent on plants for the borders so we cannot afford to let them die. If you can give just an hour now and then to help out it would be much appreciated. Contact me either via this page or email [email protected]
Autumn bulbs have been ordered, delivery in September, so we will be looking for people to help plant them out.
