Wadelows Nature Reserve

Wadelows Nature Reserve Wadelows Nature Reserve is dedicated to the conservation of our native flora and fauna and is situat
(2)

The reserve sits on the site of a medieval manor called Wadelows - hence the unusual name! The reserve has been created from ancient meadowland, owned by John & Bridget Little of Poplars Garden Centre and adjacent woodland owned by the County Council. The two sites, which are backed by around 150 acres of farmland not being used for agriculture, contain a wide diversity of habitats. The site conta

ins meadowland, hedgerows, a river, grassland, wetlands, deciduous trees and a pond. These already attract birds, insects, animals and plants and as the site is managed to maximise conservation, we hope additional species will find Wadelows for their ideal location. The aim is for Wadelows Nature Reserve to become a significant community and educational resource with conservation of our native species at the heart of management and development.

Our Story

If you would like to visit the reserve, you must sign in at the garden centre information desk where you will be given a key. The reserve is open from 9am-5pm Mon-Sat and 10.30am-4pm on Sunday. You are free to spend as much time on the reserve as you wish but we do ask that you are leave promptly at the times shown above, to give yourself time to return the key and sign out before the garden centre closes. Due to this being the natural habitat of so much wildlife, we regret that dogs are not allowed on the reserve. You are welcome to bring along a picnic but we ask that you take all rubbish away with you. BBQs are not permitted.
