Not been that great last year so finally got round with the help of our other two Trustees to decide who to donate our remaining funds to. Who would benefit children the most.
We had at our Christmas party in 2024 wrapped 51 presents for a local kids party and it turned out it made a marvellous difference to so many. We agreed to give £600 to help with the children's Christmas party in 2025 and Yetty sent this lovely message via WhatsApp
We also knew of Grow Food Grow Dunoon, where Mags my fellow trustee plants and tends these vegetables as a volunteer. They have plans to help children understand and learn how to grow food. Drew has even offered to help show the kids how to turn what they grow into some nice meals. So we donated £1000 as this will help develop this wonderful learning and development facility for the weans of Dunoon for many years.
This left £472.36 and I drove out to Robin House the other day and handed over this final cheque. I recall driving there in 2010 asking how could I help and so Cathleen's Cabin was born. I self funded it until July 2014 when Alan our other Trustee convinced me to register Cathleen's Cabin as a Scottish Charity.
I've met such amazing volunteers, donors and supporters who have helped through many hurdles. The COOP in Dunoon taking us under the wing. The School pupils of 6 East Dunbartonshire secondary schools raising funds via YPI and other activities.
And all the wonderful guest families whose letters and pictures telling me what fun they had and how cared for they felt
Thank you everyone we could never have helped so many without the full team of you.
I will not be posting here again. As I will be seeking permission to formerly close Cathleen's Cabin on paper
This is Yetty's WhatsApp message
Hello Dear Maddie,
I would like to express my sincere thanks for your generous donation of £600 towards the Dunoon Kids Bible Club Christmas Party taking place on Saturday, 13th December 2025. I am truly grateful for your kindness and thoughtfulness, and I appreciate you taking the time to visit us at our home.
I understand that you are currently in the process of closing Cathleen’s Cabin. Cathleen’s Cabin has made a meaningful impact on the lives of many children over the years, and your donation today is a beautiful reflection of the love, care, and compassion that has always been at the heart of your work.
Your contribution will enable us to create a joyful Christmas celebration for the children filled with hope, fun, and the true meaning of Christmas. Your generosity is a blessing to our community, and we are truly thankful.
May God richly bless you for your kindness, generosity, and the legacy of support you have shown to children in Dunoon in Jesus Name, Amen.
I really appreciate you a lot. Have a good night.xx
