A Climate Café® can start a chat about climate in a community, or sustain a chat about climate from action alongside project that is already happening to consider what else could be done, or it can extend a chat into other parts of the community.

This is directly relevant to our community given the under construction AI data centre at the Killellan AI Growth Zone near Toward that aims to deliver an initial capacity of 100 MW to 600 MW during its first phase. Upon full build-out, the hyperscale campus has the aspiration to scale to over 2 GW of processing capacity.

Our second event is coming up fast! On Monday 15th June we will be showing the climate action film by the National Emergency Briefing group, publicised by Chris Packham.

Many local groups use the wonderful services of the What’s On Dunoon website. You can Buy Them a Coffee for the services that they provide all for free.

This link will take you to that website and the free tickets link attached for our film screening later this month. It is so important to support and use all of our local services. They are there to connect and serve our wee community. Thank you What's On Dunoon for all that you do ♥️

There's a debate in the Scottish Parliament today called 'It's Scotland's Energy' and we have news of a 600MW hyperscale AI data centre in Fife.

With 6,200MW of demand now in the planning system, it won't be Scotland's energy if these data centres get built, it will be Silicon Valley's energy

I started my very first compost bin in the back of our garden last month. This will be very useful for all wanting to establish this practice in their own gardens and have never done it before.

You can also pay a visit to the composting over at Struan Lodge community garden in Dunoon for more tips!

We're very excited to launch our new project, http://www.highlandcompost.scot - an online hub for communities looking to start composting projects across the Highlands!

If you've been dreaming up a community compost hub, trying to deal with food waste more locally, or just wondering where to begin, this site is for you.

We've created a decision making guide to help choose the right set up, gathered case studies to share learning, and breakdown regulations and guidance.

Community composting doesn't have to be confusing, complicated or just for experts, we want it to be accessible for everyone!

Go check it out: https://www.highlandcompost.scot

Thanks to funding from Highlands & Islands Climate Hub for making this work possible!

Where are your favourite thin places?

Some of mine are when the fog drifts in off the sea, sitting under my favourite big oak tree nearby, walking through Kilmartin Glen, St Fingals cave on Staffa, Iona and any sacred site that I come across.
