Getting ready to plant out my leeks, I take out of the container, remove half of the root & one third of the leaf. Dibble a large hole and drop the plant into it. Fill the hole by watering in, this fills the soil gently around the leek and allows room for growth. As leeks are part of the allium family when companion planted with carrots they help to reduce damage from carrot flies. Although these leeks won’t be harvested for a few months it is nice to have some things ready to enjoy at the moment.
