🌸 Want more blooms in your garden this season? Start deadheading! 🌸
Deadheading is simply removing old or faded flowers from your plants. It may seem like a small gardening task, but it makes a big difference! By cutting off spent blooms, your plants can focus their energy on producing new flowers instead of creating seeds. 🌼✨
Regular deadheading helps keep your garden looking neat, colorful, and healthy while encouraging continuous blooms throughout the season. It’s also a great chance to check in on your plants and enjoy a little time outdoors. 🌿☀️
All it takes is a few quick snips with scissors or pruners — usually just above a leaf or side bud. Your flowers will thank you with even more beautiful blooms! 🌺✂️
Small snips today = a brighter, fuller garden tomorrow! 💐

For thirty-odd years, I planted marigolds with my tomatoes like I was supposed to. It’s what you do, right? The grand old gardening books say so. Turns out, unless you happen to run a massive commercial greenhouse, they’re mostly just taking up valuable soil. The actual science on them is pretty laughable for an everyday home grower. Last season, I saw a couple of commercial guys using a completely different, frankly slightly boring little flower instead. Now, I’m a born skeptic. Most companion planting lore is just pleasant folklore that doesn't actually hold up in the dirt. But I had a gap in the beds, so I gave it a try. By July, my garden was quite literally buzzing. I didn't see a single aphid all summer. Those giant, fat tomato hornworms that usually send folks running in a panic? Handled quietly and ruthlessly by nature long before I had to lift a finger. I’m never giving precious real estate to marigolds again. I wrote up exactly what this little flower is, and the very simple, non-woo-woo reason why it brings in the absolute best bugs to do your pest control for you.

There’s something really special about the village at this time of year 🌸

The blooms are coming out in full colour, brightening up our streets, gardens, and green spaces. It’s a lovely reminder of what we can create together when people take a bit of pride in where they live.

If you’ve been enjoying the flowers and would like to get involved—whether it’s planting, tidying, watering, or helping out in any way—we’d love to have you! Just get in touch with the page and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Let’s keep our village looking its best 🌼

🌸 Fun facts about hydrangeas 🌸
Hydrangeas change color with the soil! Blue or pink—your garden decides. 💙💖
Big blooms, big vibes! Hydrangeas make any garden pop. 🌸✨
Fun fact: Hydrangeas attract butterflies and bees! 🐝🦋
Heartfelt flowers 🌸 Hydrangeas symbolize gratitude and love. 💕
From fresh to dried, hydrangeas last all year! 🌾💖
For summer bedding, the best time to plant hydrangeas outdoors is late spring to early summer, once the risk of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up—giving them plenty of time to establish and thrive through the sunny months. ☀️🌿

Its time for week 4! 🌸
🌱✨ Companion Planting Magic! ✨🌱
Did you know that some plants are not just beautiful but also help each other grow? That’s the magic of companion planting! 🌿💚
Here are a few of my favorites:
🌸 Marigolds + Tomatoes – Marigolds repel pests that love tomato plants.
🥕 Carrots + Onions – Onions keep carrot flies away, while carrots loosen the soil for onions.
🥬 Basil + Peppers – Basil enhances the flavor of peppers and keeps bugs at bay.
By pairing the right plants together, you can naturally boost growth, improve flavors, and reduce the need for chemicals. 🌱🍅🥕
