EXCITING NEWS...The McManus Galleries is the perfect home for The Dundee Tapestry. It really is a work of art so you won't be disappointed if you decide to go to see it.

🚨🚨🚨 DUNDEE TAPESTRY UPDATE: After years of uncertainty, the Dundee Tapestry has finally found a permanent home - and many believe it is exactly where it was always meant to be.

The extraordinary community artwork, stitched together by more than 140 volunteers and seen by almost 200,000 people at V&A Dundee, will now go on long-term display at The McManus in a brand new dedicated gallery space. For many involved, there is huge relief that the tapestry celebrating Dundee’s people, memories and history will remain free and accessible in the heart of the city.

From Doon the Toon memories to Dundee’s industries, communities and culture, the tapestry has become far more than an artwork - it has become part of Dundee’s story itself. Now, visitors will soon be able to experience it inside what organisers describe as the city’s “people’s museum”, with rotating displays, workshops and future additions already being discussed.

Don't miss this free event, the Art & Design Undergraduate Degree Show 2026 held in the University of Dundee, 13 Perth Road, Dundee DD1 4HT.

Saturday 23 May-Sunday 31 May. Opening times 10:00-16:00 with late openings on Thursday 28 May and Saturday 30 May 10:00-20:00. It is a great opportunity to discover, celebrate and support the amazing work of the graduating students.

We had a lovely end of session meeting yesterday which included our AGM and sit&stitch in the morning and I'm sure we all enjoyed the tea, coffee and delicious goodies.
In the afternoon we had a passionate, illuminating and informative talk by the lovely Guendalina Rota of Art Angel Dundee.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the last meeting of this session on Saturday 16/05/26.

The morning session starts at 10:30, tea, coffee and goodies will be provided, then it's on to our AGM followed by sit&stitch. Our sales table will be available.

In the afternoon we have a guest speaker, Guendalina Rota of Art Angel Dundee.

At yesterday's meeting we welcomed Sandra Junele as our guest speaker. Her talk was entitled "Behind the Fibres". She described how she built a creative business from textile waste in such a way that charmed and inspired us all.

Coral Creations Workshop at DSTG today led by Angela Mehlert. The High Mill at Verdant Works was buzzing. Angela was a wonderful tutor and brought along lots of inspirational materials to work with. Thanks Angela. Here are some photos of the fabulous creations.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at our meeting on Saturday 18/04/26. The morning session which starts at 10:30, consists of a workshop led by member Angela Mehlert entitled "Coral Creations". Members who are not participating in the workshop can sit&stitch, there's normally lots of exciting projects on the go. Our sales table will be available, there's always something to tempt us!

In the afternoon we have a guest speaker, Sandra Junele, an award winning textile artist based in Dundee who designs and creates custom signs, wall art and decor from recycled fashion waste.

Today at Verdant Works - a Mixed Media Collage Day School led by Jude Finlayson. So much creativity and a lot of fun. In the morning we made an abstract collage and used a view finder to identify pleasing compositions. Here are the photos. See next post for the afternoon session.
