Dundee Stitch and Textile Group Our group meets on the 3rd Sat of the month (Sep to May). We welcome anyone with an interest in embroidery, stitch and textile art.

What an amazing meeting we had on Saturday 17th October. In the morning, members worked on items for our Christmas Fayre and got a lot of inspiration from ideas provided by the Fayre Team. In the afternoon, Kirsty Hassard (Senior Curator at the V&A Dundee) gave us a wonderful behind-the-scenes view of the Tartan Exhibition, sharing the stories, discoveries and research which shaped its curation. What an amazing turnout for our first meeting of the 26/27 session. In the afternoon, Lynda Marshall demonstrated how to produce botanical prints on natural fabrics using fresh leaves, blossom and natural dyes. We were all enthralled and inspired. Some of our members are involved in a wonderful project called 'Process and Outcome' by Helen Birmingham of Untangled Threads. It uses 'iconography from Hundertwasser and a psychological interpretation of Agnes Richter's jacket of inspiration'. The finished artworks will be auctioned and all proceeds will be donated to MIND and the Embroiderers Guild. Another of our talented DSTG members, Jane Sheldon, is a member of the Scottish Textile Art Group (STAG) who are exhibiting at the Dunblane Museum Sep 02 to 29 2026. Jane has six pieces in the exhibition, here are a couple. Love that cheeky fox! Jane says there are lots of nice tearooms and cafes in Dunblane so well worth a visit. (Photos courtesy of Jane.)
