Thank you to everyone who made it to April brew club. Best looking brew of the night definitely went to the dragonfruit and lychee cider which poured a beautiful purple colour.

Most, erm, interesting beer was definitely the gochujang saison!

Other highlights included a Mexican lager, Belgian witbier, Harlequin pale ale and a Schwarzbier.

See you all next month!

Have you ever wondered how much it costs to brew your own beer?

The full answer is “it depends”. There are lots of variables - the styles you like to brew, your equipment, your efficiency, where you’ve bought your ingredients from etc.

This is the time of year where people are looking to save money, so here’s an example of how brewing a session strength hazy pale or session IPA compares to popular craft and supermarket options!

This is based on buying grain in 25kg bags for base malts and 3kg bags for specialty malts. The ingredients used in this example were purchased from and and the manufacturers used were and with the exception of the oats which came from

As you can see, there are significant savings to be made!

If you are interested in learning to brew your own beer, why not come along to the Dundee Brew Club? We meet on the first Thursday of every month, at 7:30 at
