Wednesday started quite balmy, with good light for photography. The students were out early getting tool for clearing weeds and shrubs in the Meerkat enclosure. I have noticed the Buddleia has gone a bit wild this year and at this time of year it should be cut back by at least half. Despite all the going's on around them the Meerkats were out and about enjoying the attention.

Wednesday was a miserable wet morning but the Students and EE Volunteers were helping out despite the rain. Some of the students were clearing out in the Lynx enclosure. For those who don't know we lost our Lynxes last weekend, one through cancer and the other was heading towards kidney failure. There are lots of changes going on which will become apparent over the next couple of months, some of you will have noticed this sign near the entrance.

After missing a week with a visit down in Durham, I came back on Wednesday to some big changes. The work in progress will become apparent to anyone visiting over the next couple of months. In addition their are some movements within the Centre due to these changes. This week saw the students working in the Ancrum Field behind the Bear enclosure in preparation to moving Molly, the Shetland and Donkey. I decided this week to photograph in monotone for a change.

The new D&A course started last week and already they've got them at work cleaning out the Goats and the Rheas.

The new D&A Students are back to start their year course in Animal Welfare and Behaviour, so good luck to them. Just a few pics from this week including a visit on Saturday with my youngest grandson. The young Snowy Owl 'Ralph' is doing well and is almost as big as mum now. Despite the name I believe he/she is a female due to the distinct plumage. There is a lot happening at the Centre over the next few months so watch this space for more info!

Wednesday was very warm and it showed after a brief walk around, lots of the residents hiding in the shade. Here are the ones who deemed to show themselves. \\\unfortunately Alaska refused to let me know where the fledgling was hiding.

After a very wet start on Wednesday, it did improve slightly but with rain forecast all day. The Students were still working on their documentaries so it gave me time to wander in between showers.

No students last Wednesday, busy finishing off their documentaries, so time for a leisurely walk around the Centre. Some small changes, notably in the Eagles enclosure where they have extended Ernies area.
