What a night! Amsterdam’s Dudok String Quartet ‘sharing the heart of music’ with us in Dundee on Tuesday and introducing us to
‘What Remains’ by Dutch composer Joey Roukens. This beautiful meditation on time and memory simply must be heard live, which you can still do in Milngavie tonight or in Linlithgow on Saturday

Amsterdam’s Dudok String Quartet is a major force on the European music scene. With its ethos of ‘sharing the heart of music’, the quartet believes that chamber music is an act of friendship and play to be shared directly with audiences.
‘What Remains’ by Dutch composer Joey Roukens is a meditation on time and memory. Influenced by Steve Reich, Roukens’ rich musical palette evokes memories, ghosts, ruins from a bygone age. Schubert’s great ‘Death and the Maiden’ Quartet is a passionate, drama-filled exposition of his view of the afterlife as both terrifying and consoling.
“Gripping performances...you’ll find yourself within the prickling skins of these works – and on the edge of your seat.” The Strad

Just a week to go until our first exciting concert of 2026. We welcome the Chloé Piano Trio as part of their Tunnell Trust Award tour. The concert will feature works by women across three centuries: 19th (Clara Schumann), 20th (Amy Beach) and 21st (Reena Esmail). All three share a melodic and harmonious approach to the intimate world of the piano trio. I can’t wait to hear them live, especially Reena Esmail’s astonishing blend of Indian and classical music. Come and celebrate with us.

The essence of Chamber Music is in the intimacy. You are close enough to the players to be aware of what they are putting into the music and to witness the skill of the performers in a way that you can't with an orchestra. It is the most live of live music.
