Crafting Digital CIC

Crafting Digital CIC Using creative practice to reduce digital inequality by supporting communities to build skills, confidence, and community-owned digital solutions.

Work combines inclusive digital learning, creative practice, and capacity-building for grassroots orgs. NEoN is developing a feminist ethics of care approach to its organisation that challenging neoliberal working conditions, in addition to providing a feminist digital infrastructure. We aim to develop and impliment new strategies that emphasise collaborative, collective, and communal approaches.

By slowing down and claiming time for collective action informed by feminist theory, we are exploring alternatives to neoliberal models that are fast-paced and metric-oriented.

This was a truly rewarding project to be part of, generating powerful outcomes and insights from the young people whose lives are most directly affected by these issues. It reaffirms why this work matters and strengthens my commitment to advancing digital equity, digital freedom, and empowered digital citizenship for all via my work at Crafting Digital CIC

Great people, believing in new imaginaries and digital optimism, can change things XD

This report presents new evidence about the experiences and expectations of the first generation of young people growing up with digital technology in early twenty-first century Britain.

Bioregioning Tayside – Reimagining Tayside as a Living Bioregion

Open Call: Artist/Illustrator Competition £1,000 prize & commission contract

Opens 10am, 4th March, closes 5pm, 10th April 2026

We are launching an open competition to find an artist or illustrator who can help shape a distinctive visual language for Bioregioning Tayside, one that grows from the land itself. We are seeking work that listens to the river, the soils, the coastlines and hills; that recognises the intricate patterns of watersheds, food webs, seasonal cycles, and human communities woven together across the Tay catchment. This is an invitation to interpret Tayside not as a map of administrative borders, but as a living, breathing system, dynamic, interdependent and alive.

We use the internet every day, but where is it, really?

How much energy does it take to send an email?

Who benefits and who pays the price for the internet we rely on?

Learn more about the hidden physical world behind our digital lives: the cables under oceans, the data centres on land, the energy that powers our clicks, and the communities and environments affected along the way.

Help build a better, more sustainable internet — workshops & volunteer opportunities

Hello,

We’re hosting a series of upcoming events and hands-on workshops, and we’re inviting people who care about the future of the internet to join us.

Whether you’re concerned about online safety, environmental impact, learning practical skills, or sharing technical expertise, there’s a place for you.

What’s happening
We’re running a set of workshops focused on:
• Building and understanding safer, more resilient internet infrastructure
• Exploring the environmental impact of digital systems and how to reduce it
• Learning practical skills around self-hosting, networking, and system administration
• Creating spaces where knowledge-sharing and collaboration are central

Who this is for
• People who care about a safer, healthier internet
• Those concerned about the environmental cost of digital infrastructure
• Learners who want to better understand how the internet actually works
• System administrators, network engineers, and technically experienced folks who want to volunteer, mentor, or share skills

You don’t need to be an expert to participate, just the curiosity and care are enough. And if you are experienced, your knowledge can make a real difference for others.

How to get involved
• Attend one or more of the workshops
• Volunteer your skills or help facilitate sessions
• Connect with others working toward a more ethical, sustainable digital future

If this resonates with you, we’d love to have you involved — or for you to pass this along to someone who might be interested.

Thanks for caring about how the internet is built and who it serves.

Here are some of the upcoming events, workshops and activities we are organizing. These workshops are all free and open to everyone!

Digital Change for Climate Justice - Action Workshops

A friendly, hands-on workshop series based in Dundee, supporting people to understand the hidden systems behind the digital world and how they connect to climate justice at a local level.

Across the workshops, we will explore how the internet really works, from undersea cables and data centres to energy use and carbon impact, and how these global systems show up in Dundee and beyond.

Together, we will share knowledge, build confidence, and create resources that help Dundee imagine and grow local digital infrastructure that is community-led, climate-aware, and less dependent on extractive, energy-intensive big tech systems.
Who's it for?

Anyone curious about technology, climate, justice, or the systems shaping everyday life, artists, educators, activists, students, and interested internet users.

No writing or technical expertise needed, just a willingness to collaborate, reflect, and share. Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided.

Here are some of the upcoming events, workshops and activities we are organizing. These workshops are all free and open to everyone!
