REACT Coastwatch REACT Coastwatch Coastwatch Tay - Safeguarding Lives & Enhancing Coastal Safety - We watch out for You.

Coastwatch Tay is a small team of uniformed volunteers who have an interest in, and concern for, the safety of life at sea and on the coast. Our volunteers give up a few hours a week to keep visual watch over activities on the Tay estuary including beaches, harbours and wildlife at Broughty Ferry, Tayport, Tentsmuir and Monifieth. Coastwatch Tay which is located at Dundee on the North East coast o

f Scotland, was formed in 2009 as an autonomous volunteer based coastal safety & monitoring organisation by a small team of people who have an interest in, and concern for the safety of the ever expanding number of coastal users and marine wildlife frequenting the Firth of Tay including its shores, beaches, harbours and marinas. From our base we keep visual watch over sailing vessels, powerboats, rhibs, person water craft, kayakers, coastal rowing boats, kite surfers, stand up paddle boarders, open water swimmers & commercial shipping. Our mobile coastal safety patrollers inspects life saving equipment and providing water safety advice and information to the public. The core task of Coastwatch Tay is to identify, locate, and report to Her Majesty’s Coastguard (HMCG) any incident which may require action by, or through, HMCG. We also keep a listening watch of the international distress channel VHF Channel 16 in support of search & rescue operations.
