We are excited to be doing another charity concert this year. Our charity for 2026 is Sight Support & Social Hub. As we can no longer use the Space Theatre, we are looking forward to appearing in the Steeple Centre, which is located in the church beside the Overgate Shopping Centre. There is plenty of parking in and around the Overgate, and it is also on a main bus route. The concert will be on Saturday 31st October. See the poster for further details. 😀🎶

Our Coffee Morning is nearly here — Friday 21st August, 11am–2pm at Sight Support & Social Hub.

Join us for a cuppa, sweet treats, and a chat, and learn more about the activities and support we offer for people who are blind or visually impaired. It’s a lovely chance to meet the team.

Street Lighting Improvements on Ward Road

Dundee City Council are currently carrying out upgrades to the street lighting on Ward Road. During these works, there may be some disruption, including temporary footpath closures and parking restrictions along the street.

We had a fun time in the Overgate Shopping Centre this afternoon where we had a bucket collection for our 2026 charity, Sight Support & Social Hub. The generous shoppers donated just under £100 which is a brilliant total. Many thanks to all those, young and older, who took the time to stop and listen and/or to put donations in our bucket. It is greatly appreciated.😀

Dundee City Council are currently improving the street lighting at Ward Road, West Bell Street, Constitution Road and Courthouse Square. This may cause some disruption in the streets near our office in Dundee.

I am delighted to share that we were visited by Rebecca Jackson Hunt (Deacon) and Mike Hardy (Clerk) from the Cordiners (Shoemakers) of The Nine Incorporated Trades of Dundee.

Earlier this year, they kindly held a quiz night to raise funds for us — and the Cordiners generously matched the total raised. Thanks to their incredible support, they have donated £1,053 to Sight Support & Social Hub.

Laura accepted the cheque on behalf of the organisation, and this contribution will be used for the benefit of all our members. We are truly grateful for their kindness and continued support of local Dundee charities.

Scotland play their first World Cup match in 28 years on Sunday morning.

Haiti vs Scotland kicks off at 2am, and for many people it'll be worth setting an alarm for.

For people with sight loss, following live football can mean missing out on things most fans take for granted - the tension, the build-up, the moment before the goal.

This tournament is doing something about that.

FIFA has introduced audio-descriptive commentary for every match at the 2026 World Cup. It goes beyond standard radio commentary, describing body language, facial expressions, and the movement of the ball.

You can download the FIFA Audio Description app free on iPhone and Android. Search "FIFA Audio description" in your app store.

Nearly 200,000 people in Scotland are living with sight loss. If you know someone who'd benefit from this, please share it with them before Sunday.

Whether it’s helping with activities, offering a steady arm, making a cuppa, or simply sharing a friendly chat, you make our hub a welcoming, safe, and joyful place for everyone who comes through our doors.

We also want to take this moment to say a heartfelt thank you. Your compassion, patience, and dedication do not go unnoticed. We truly appreciate everything you do, and we are committed to showing our gratitude not just this week, but all year round. Volunteers are the heart of our community, and we couldn’t do what we do without you!
