What an amazing picture of our Affiliate Ship leaving Dundee on Tasking. Kuljit Athwal Photography thanks for tagging us so we could see this amazing photo.

HMS Duncan departing her affiliated city of Dundee. An overcast day made for a fairly grey image, but at least the weather was calm and the fog broke up eventually.

I'm a big fan of the sea traffic that we get into the city, I've built a good collection of images of various vessels that have visited Dundee over the years. But I think this is my first image from the sky. So I had to make it special. It's always good to see HMS Duncan in the city.

Here we can see Broughty Castle Museum in the foreground and Tayport, Welcome to Fife on the horizon

The Experience of a lifetime

We welcomed home HMS Duncan to Dundee yesterday and today we joined the crew.... Not for just a simple ships tour we got to become part of the crew for a watch. After arriving at the Gangway we took part in colours from the jetti then after a safety brief The cadets were split into divisions and were put to work! From moving stores, cleaning stations, throwing heaving lines, learning about the wildcat & drone ops they were all over Ship and helping out. Then after a trip to the NAAFI it was time for the juniors to join us and everyone went on Ships Tours.

During which it hit 1200 and we felt the ship rock! A 21 gun salute for the Kings birthday and we were able to feel and watch this amazing display (safely from behind glass of course). What an absolute honour!

We then returned to the mess for some brilliant scran for Lunch kindly provided by Duncan's Chefs. Some challenge coins in trade for a brilliant bit of scran were given!!

We did some Photography on the flight deck before giving the crew and ship a hearty 3 cheers To Duncan!

I want to thank the Crew, EWO, XO & CO for a once in a lifetime affiliation visit. The crew of Duncan are highly motivated, kind and welcoming and an absolute credit to the Royal Navy. I think our cadets will remember today vividly for many years. It truly was the experience of a lifetime!

Our Affiliate Ship is back... Welcome back to Dundee HMS Duncan!! Last and Best D37! We have waited since she was last here in 2013 to welcome her back.

6 June 1944 – D-Day

Today we remember and honour the brave British and Commonwealth servicemen who landed on Gold, Juno and Sword Beaches in Normandy.

Their courage, sacrifice and determination helped secure the freedom we enjoy today.

We thank them. We remember them. We will never forget them.

We want to send our deepest condolences to the Royal Navy and the families and friends of the three killed in the helicopter crash. Watching Lt Fisher on Instagram showed just how much of an inspirational officer she was. Nothing got in her way and she lived her life to the absolute fullest.

Lieutenant Commander Chris Gayson, 42, Somerset
Lieutenant Lily-Mae Fisher, 31, Surrey
Petty Officer Owen Green, 24, Hampshire

All three are a heavy loss to the Navy and to our country.
