Congratulations to the NHS Tayside Public Dental Service team in Angus, who achieved third place in the Service Poster category at the British Dental Association Community Dental Services Group Annual Presidential and Scientific Meeting 2026.

Their award-winning project introduced a dental nurse-led telephone triage service for patients waiting for IV sedation treatment. The initiative helped patients access the most appropriate care sooner, reducing long waiting times and improving the patient experience. Within the first month, the waiting list was reduced by around half, and the service has since helped eliminate the waiting list altogether.

The success of the project has led to the approach being rolled out across other NHS Tayside Public Dental Service localities, demonstrating how a simple, collaborative change can deliver significant benefits for patients and services alike.
Congratulations to Tom Richmond, Louise Renwick, Shelly Worrall and the wider Angus Public Dental Service team on this well-deserved national recognition.

Community Pharmacies provide a wide range of healthcare services, from dispensing prescriptions, providing advice and treatment for minor illnesses to supporting people with their medicines and other health needs.

We are inviting people across Tayside to share their experiences of accessing Community Pharmacy services and their awareness of the services available.

Congratulations to Dr Claire Douglas, who recently received her Churchill Fellowship Award at a ceremony in London🏆

Claire's Fellowship explored how palliative and supportive care can be improved for people living with advanced kidney disease. Drawing on learning from specialist services in the USA and Australia, she continues to support service improvement and influence practice across the UK and beyond.

A significant achievement and well-deserved recognition of Claire's work in this important area of care.
