What an incredible week it's been for AEDdonate!

This week, we've delivered lifesaving awareness sessions, assemblies and lessons to over 1,000 children, helping young people understand CPR, defibrillators and how they could help save someone's life.

We've been sparking conversations, answering questions and, most importantly, building confidence. Because learning these skills shouldn't be something we leave until we're adults. The earlier we start, the more confident the next generation of lifesavers can become.

💚 Imagine the conversations happening around dinner tables this week, with children telling their families what they've learned, asking where their nearest defibrillator is and sharing how to help someone in an emergency.

That's how awareness spreads. That's how communities become safer.

🚶‍♂️ At 6am this morning, Jamie and Joe also set off on their lifesaving challenge, walking 20 miles and checking 50 defibrillators across Stone in a single day, highlighting the importance of ensuring these vital devices are ready when someone needs them.

Today, we're taking part in a number of events to continue spreading the message that anyone can be a lifesaver.

You don't need to be a medical professional. You don't need to have all the answers. You just need to know the basics and have the confidence to act.

Restart a Heart Day takes place on Friday 16 October. This global day raises awareness of cardiac arrest and the lifesaving difference CPR and defibrillators can make. Here are four things we can all do to help give someone the best chance of survival:

1) Learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator. Anyone can learn with our free online training tool, RevivR. It only takes 15 minutes, and one day those skills could help save a life. https://www.bhf.org.uk/how-you-can-help/how-to-save-a-life/how-to-do-cpr/learn-cpr-in-15-minutes

2) In an emergency, every second counts. Knowing where to find your nearest defibrillator could save precious time and help save a life. Find yours here: https://www.defibfinder.uk/

3) Register your defibrillator on The Circuit. If there's a defibrillator in your workplace, community venue or organisation, make sure it's registered on The Circuit so ambulance services know where to find it when it's needed most. https://www.thecircuit.uk/

When someone has a cardiac arrest, every second counts.

Ahead of Restart a Heart Day on 16 October, learn 6 simple steps that could help save a life. ❤️

1️) If safe to approach and you find someone unconscious, call 999 immediately.
2️) Assess the person to see if they are breathing.
3) Start chest compressions if they are unresponsive and not breathing normally.
4) Continue CPR until a defibrillator arrives and is switched on and attached to the person.
5) Follow the instructions from the defibrillator or emergency call handler.
6) Keep giving chest compressions until the ambulance arrives.



You can put your skills into practice with RevivR, our free online CPR training tool. In just 15 minutes, you can learn the lifesaving skills that could help someone survive a cardiac arrest.

Heartstart Discovery offers two-hour training sessions in Emergency Life Support for members of the public.

Being able to perform Emergency Life Support gives a casualty the best possible chance of survival.

These actions include helping:
• an unconscious person who is breathing;
• an unconscious person who is not breathing (CPR);
• Awareness of defibrillators;

Courses are FREE OF CHARGE however donations are welcomed. No medical knowledge is required in order to undertake one of these courses.

It only takes two hours to learn the skills which may some day save a life.
