Over the past few years as an EC member, I have had the privilege of representing Unite LGBT+ members by attending ,speaking or giving evidence at many events on a variety of topics which affect our communities. These included speaking to MP's and others on GRA, mental health issues, LGBT history, International LGBT + rights.

I was very pleased to be able to meet Dr Mariela Castro, Director of Cenesex .The meeting was held in Havana where we had an informative discussion on LGBT rights and we now have a valued and useful contact within Cuba. I was there as part of Unite's delegation to Cuba and presented Mariela with a t-shirt. The meeting showed the importance of continuing to have LGBT+ voices heard through Unite's International links and work.

BBC Question Time tonight and panelist Ella Whelan has an interesting track record. She doesn't believe in gender pay gaps and basically women should shut up if they are earning a few zeros less than men , thinks International Women’s Day is a waste of time too. So I don't think I will be taking her opinion on GRA , trans women on board. Writes for the Sun and lots of other right wing press.
