β€œWha’ll be oor chief, oor noble heid,
An’ keep the toasts frae goin’ deid?
Wha’ll rise an’ lead oor merry band,
Wi’ steady voice an’ guid firm hand?”

Russ Glendinning has served as President of Dunblane Burns Club for the past three years, and done so magnificently. Reviving the group after several years in abeyance, and with a strong committee providing him with support, Russ successfully led the organising of three Burns Suppers in the Victoria Hall, Dunblane.

However, having done this for three years, Russ is stepping back from that role. None of the committee feel they can take on the role of Chair, but every one of them stands ready to support whoever does.

So, Dunblane Burns Club committee is looking for someone to take on the role of President. Could this be you?

The main role is chairing the annual Burns Supper, and chairing the meetings of the Burns Club committee (held every month or so). Whoever takes on the role will have the support of a committee keen to take forward the aim to promote the works of Robert Burns locally.

As well as the annual Burns Suppers, Dunblane Burns Club now has a very active social media presence, and a website rich with information about Robert Burns and his connections to Dunblane. This includes videos from each of the three recent Burns Suppers.

Money raised at Dunblane Burns Club annual Burns Suppers have also allowed the club to provide funding for local good causes (this year several hundred pounds going to both the Dunblane Centre, and to the Parent Council of Dunblane High School).

The club is in a good financial position.

If you would like to consider taking on the role of President of Dunblane Burns Club, then do please get in touch by email: [email protected]
