🐻💛 PUDSEY IS COMING BACK TO Dunbar! 💛🐻

We know it might seem a little early to be talking about BBC Children in Need, but Pudsey is a very busy bear and we need to start putting his Dunbar itinerary together!

The Rotary Club of Dunbar is delighted to have Pudsey Bear visit us from Tuesday 10th to Friday 13th November, and this year we'd love to get him out and about meeting our community.
He will have visited North Berwick the week before, so we'd like to add to his tour of East Lothian..

We'd love for Pudsey to visit local clubs and activities as part of our fundraising, and we're already planning to invite our local schools to join in this year.

But where else should Pudsey go?

💛 Do you run a children's club, sports group or community organisation?
💛 Does your local business or venue fancy a visit from our famous bear?
💛 Or do you know somewhere Pudsey simply HAS to visit?

If you'd like to be considered for Pudsey's Dunbar Tour 2026, drop us a message with your club, group or venue and we'll see what we can fit into his diary.

We can't promise Pudsey will manage to visit everyone, but we're going to try to make the most of every minute we have him!

Dunbar Rotary are the volunteers who care for the Station gardens and planters.
We do this for the pleasure of Station users / passengers.
It is therefore disappointing to find plants have been removed from one of the planters beside the shelter on platform 2.
We have also noted plants disappearing from the embankment on platform one.

Much as the plants look lovely and colourful, they are not there for people to help themselves to, for adding to their own gardens.

Please be reminded the Station does have CCTV - we will check this.
This is theft.
It's been a challenge keeping everything watered and alive in the warm, hot summer, without having them disappearing.
Come on folks we can do better than this.

RNLI Dunbar Lifeboats fete today.
Dunbar Rotary club support this each year, with activities to raise money to help the fundraising.
Glitter tattoos, always a hit with the kids, couple of fun try your luck games.
New this year - nameband Service, to help avoid lost kids and panicked parents !
Nameband with parents phone number put on childs wrist, should they become seperated, organising staff or police can contact parent for a swift reunion.
Always a fun day for a great cause..

Good coverage of the Haddington Show in today's "Courier". Dunbar Rotary along with other Rotary Clubs in East Lothian were delighted to take part in this year's Show at East Fortune by distributing wrist bands in order to keep children safe if they became separated from their parents. You'll see youngsters with the wristbands on pp 22, 23 & 26 !! It was a very busy afternoon and Dunbar Rotary sends congratulations to the Show organisers for an excellent event.

Dunbar Rotary held its Handover meeting this week, as Steve Elliott ended two busy years as President. After paying tribute to the late Wendy Badger, who had looked forward to taking on the role, Steve presented the chain of office to Elaine O'Brien - her third time in leading the Club. Graeme Darkes is continuing as Secretary and Paul Randle was appointed Treasurer. President Elaine will share the year with Past Presidents Robin Hamilton and Ian Dickson.

Helen Harper is this year's worthy awardee of the Dunbar Rotary Community Salver. Helen retires this year from her post in Connected Communities after over 30 years work in projects including Intergenerational Dinners at Dunbar Grammar School, Clothes for Kids, the Rotary Christmas Angel Trees, supporting vulnerable families during the pandemic, and organising holiday programmes for Dunbar Grammar students, to name but a few. One of her colleagues said: "Helen always goes the extra mile to support people within our community . . she is held in high regard by everyone . . she is a star." President Steve Elliott presented Helen with the Community Salver at a recent Rotary meeting.
