Helen Harper is this year's worthy awardee of the Dunbar Rotary Community Salver. Helen retires this year from her post in Connected Communities after over 30 years work in projects including Intergenerational Dinners at Dunbar Grammar School, Clothes for Kids, the Rotary Christmas Angel Trees, supporting vulnerable families during the pandemic, and organising holiday programmes for Dunbar Grammar students, to name but a few. One of her colleagues said: "Helen always goes the extra mile to support people within our community . . she is held in high regard by everyone . . she is a star." President Steve Elliott presented Helen with the Community Salver at a recent Rotary meeting.

This week, Dunbar Rotary, in common with many other local groups, remembers Wendy Badger. We reported to South of Scotland Rotary with these words: "It is with deep sadness that we report the sudden passing of Past President Wendy Badger on April 7th after a short illness. Wendy was a committed Rotarian, involved in the club at a local level. In recent years she has been involved in the organisation and smooth running of the Showcase at District Conference. Additionally, Wendy was President Elect for 2026/27, her second term. Wendy's late husband Tom was also President of Dunbar on two occasions, and it meant a lot to her to follow in Tom's footsteps as a second term President."

Shane Hay was awarded the Rotary trophy for Best Improved Young Golfer, at the meeting on Monday 12th, by President Steve Elliott. Shane won the East Lothian Junior League Handicap competition last year and will travel to the USA to represent East Lothian at Pinehurst Golf Resort in North Carolina in February. The trophy is the Rob Renton Memorial Trophy, inaugurated in 2024 in memory of past member Rob Renton.

Santa has made two trips to Dunbar (Fri & Sat) and plans a third visit tomorrow (Sun) when the route (6-8pm) will include Simpson Avenue, Yosemite Park, Cospatrick Gardens, Moray Avenue and Middlemas Road. Watch for him. Funds collected will go to the Harbour Trust fund-raising for the fishermen who lost so much in the recent fire at McArthur's Store.

It's almost time for Santa's visit...
Friday 19th / 20th / 21st
Come and say hello...
Sweet treats for kids and we will be collecting for DHT fisherman's fund.

Santa Tracker will be active from 6 pm on each night. Watch out for it...

- SANTA is COMING TO TOWN ! ...yes Dunbar !
Friday /Saturday & Sunday : 19th ; 20th & 21st December .
Paying homage to Dunbar's fishing heritage, he's going to come in his boat instead of his Sleigh... he'll have a few elves and be giving out sweets.
Saying Hello to kids young and old.... and spreading Christmas cheer and fun !

The Santa Tracker will be live on each night, so everyone can see where he is.
The boat is too big to travel into small streets and cul-de-sacs, so please come out onto main streets.
We will also be collecting for the Fishermen recovery Fund - run by DHT .
We hope you will join us x
