Save Ladyfield - a beautiful conservation area in Dumfries

Some great news! Well done Cath Nesbitt, Simon and KKQC for getting the Ladyfield Local Place plan accepted ❤️

LADYFIELD LOCAL PLACE PLAN has been accepted and registered by D&G Council as a representation of what the local community wants for Ladyfield.

The plan put forward that the community:
1. Wants the farmers field to remain as it is
2. Wants the Ladyfield site to be protected from housing development and prioritised as open green space.
3. Wants Ladyfield to be protected as greenbelt separating the village from Dumfries
4. Would like the site conserved as a wild park to w the biodiversity of the area.

Shona McCoy, Team Leader of Development Planning thanked us for producing the plan and noted that the efforts by the community council and the quality of the plan were acknowledged by the members of the area committee.

Now the plan has been registered it can be taken into account when the proposed local development plan is prepared. So there are still some stages to come in securing the future of Ladyfield but at least the community hopes have been formally registered.

MONDAY 11th AUGUST: BAT WALK. 9-11pm

Come along to a talk and walk to try and detect a special species of bat on the river with Liam Templeton from Species on the Edge.
