The UK National Screening Committee has again reached a preliminary position of no recommendation for screening young people for cardiac conditions associated with sudden cardiac death. Its public consultation is open now, and it closes on 31 August 2026.

If you are a family, a supporter, or a health professional, your response carries real weight.

The form for members of the public has six boxes, each up to 500 words. You can share your story, comment on the evidence, and say why screening matters to you. You do not need to fill in every box, and you can use your own words throughout.

One point many people are raising: because the review only considered evidence up to April 2025, it does not include CRY's 2026 research published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, based on 104,369 young people screened. This is exactly the kind of evidence the committee says is limited.

It was very wet day at Loch Ken Water Safety day. There was water in the loch, there was water from the sky, there was water , water everywhere and not a drop to drink!
Thanks to everyone who braved the weather and came to learn vital CPR skills
