Solway Firth Partnership

Solway Firth Partnership Working together towards a sustainable Solway Firth We also contribute to development of policies for management of the coast and sea.

Solway Firth Partnership is an independent charity that works to support a vibrant and sustainable local economy while respecting, protecting and celebrating the distinctive character, heritage and natural features of our marine and coastal area. We do this by working with people on both sides of the Solway Firth and further afield on a wide range of projects. We aim to engage with as many people as possible to help ensure that local views shape the future of the area.

If you find a shell on your next visit to the Solway, pick it up and look closely -it is a sign of a living ecosystem that we all are working every day to protect

This World Environment Day we are celebrating the small wonders of our living coast. From the Common Mussel clinging to rocks by threads to the King Scallop that can flap away from a starfish, the Solway is full of stories waiting to be discovered.

Can you spot any of these on your next coastal walk? Drop a comment and let us know!

If there is one flower that shouts SW Scotland at this time of year it is the blue haze of spring squill. It may be small but it makes an impact on our coastal cliff tops. Catch it while it blooms!

Sand dunes act as time capsules holding items for many years before rereleasing them following erosion by wind or waves. This TAYTO crisp packet appears to have nipped across the Irish Sea back in 1999 and has been hidden in the dunes until it was found on a beach clean RSPB Dumfries and Galloway Mersehead
