Dumfries Community Choir began in April 2011 when Graham Main put an advert in the local press asking if anyone was interested in singing together. The choir grew, and in 2012 started to meet above the Coach and Horses. Alongside the choir the’ Big Burns Supper’ festival was formed, and the organisational team moved premises again to Munchies Street in Dumfries town centre. Due to increased number
s the choir met twice a week for a period of time. As the project grew over time, we moved into different venues throughout Dumfries, including the Theatre Royal and the Frothy Bike Cafe. Dumfries Community Choir is part of the Big Burns Supper which is South of Scotland's largest community platform. They produce events and festivals throughout the region as well as Dumfries Youth Theatre and Dumfries Community Choir. Now in 2021 the choir has approximately 120 registered members and has established a reputation for being alternative, performing at local events and festivals throughout the year.
