Dumfries Community Choir

Dumfries Community Choir Community Choir The first meeting was held in the Gallery Café in Dumfries with a handful of people attending. ANYONE can take part in Dumfries Community Choir.

Dumfries Community Choir began in April 2011 when Graham Main put an advert in the local press asking if anyone was interested in singing together. The choir grew, and in 2012 started to meet above the Coach and Horses. Alongside the choir the’ Big Burns Supper’ festival was formed, and the organisational team moved premises again to Munchies Street in Dumfries town centre. Due to increased number

s the choir met twice a week for a period of time. As the project grew over time, we moved into different venues throughout Dumfries, including the Theatre Royal and the Frothy Bike Cafe. Dumfries Community Choir is part of the Big Burns Supper which is South of Scotland's largest community platform. They produce events and festivals throughout the region as well as Dumfries Youth Theatre and Dumfries Community Choir. Now in 2021 the choir has approximately 120 registered members and has established a reputation for being alternative, performing at local events and festivals throughout the year. Minutes before we took to the stage for our most EPIC set ever.

83 singers
6 musicians
1 Dougie McLean

Our Eden set is the highlight of the year for us and a tradition we have kept going for the last 13 years. (Almost)

Massive thanks to the audiences who came out to enjoy our sun drenched, heart pulling and camp as christmas set, you stole our hearts again.

We are incredibly grateful to mother Eden Festival and her children for uniting the tribes of Galloway so that we become one again.

Our batteries may be low this morning, but are our hearts are full to the brim Xx

What an amazing open house night. The atmosphere was electric.

It was great to see old friends, newbies and of course celebrate the magic of music making with such a cool community of people.

This is just a teaser of what is to come.

If you didn't make it, remember you can come and celebrate on our official birthday on Saturday 27th June.

And if you like what you say, add your name to our waiting lists below.

Bringing it all the way to 2025 with Pink Pony Club, we recorded this at the Supper Club, which is our home at 70 High Street which means our voices get to fill the town centre every week and bring a splash of colour to the town.

Happy Birthday to us. It HAD to be this one. Our collaboration with Kaleidoscope Orchestra at Big Burns Supper in Dumfries January 2025 was a show stealer and sums up our ambition to use music to connect, collaborate, care, be kind and bring a little love to our community and to each other.

Music can heal the world.

This Sunday, we are officially 15 years old.

It has been some adventure – we have been on an incredibly journey together. Sharing the highs and lows of our lives together with each other and our community.

Some of you came in for a short while and flew onto other bright adventures and some of you became part of the furniture.

No matter how brief our time together, you made part of our story and we would love to include you in our celebration.

Join us on 12th May as we bring many voices together to create one song together between 6pm -8pm in the Supper Club at 70 High Street.
