Todays 50th anniversary show for the Dumfries Vintage Machinery Club was massive and extremely well attended.
The club was kind enough to invite us yet again and so, here are today's team, back row L to R, Brian, Ian, Ian & William
Front row, Roly, Mary & Robert. Missing is James Gibson, who was off on a leaflet delivering mission around the site!.
Lets also thank Euroroute for providing the tow vehicle for our stand, David Reid for driving it, and Buddy, David Beresford, who recently completely refurbished the show unit's braking system

Neil Sturrock, (centre) visited our stand at today's Vintage Rally at Park Farm to hand over a big cheque for £1,308, following his recent amazing 24 hour racketball challenge for funds to assist three lucky local charities, including ourselves.
Flanking Roly are Sean & Amy Thomson, who organised and ran the entire enterprise so well.
Neil paid tribute to them both, adding "I just hit the ball!". Yeah Neil, but you did that for 24 hours!.
Thank you all so much.

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT FOR PROSTATE BUDDIES D & G

This fine intrepid pair of coiled springs, Jeff McKean (left) & David King, are looking to beat the current official world record for the greatest number of golf holes played in 24 hours.

To maximise the available daylight hours, the guys will look to complete more than the current record of 180 holes played and recorded in the famous Guinness book, from 8.00am on June 22nd until the same time 24 hours later, (that's ten rounds of golf, equal to one round every 2.4 hours!!) without stopping, both playing consecutive shots with one ball, although they can of course replace any that get lost!.

Special thanks to everyone at the beautifully scenic Thornhill Golf Club, who have welcomed the guys with open arms and supported them from the outset in organising this event, even closing the course during the 24 hours, so that they have full rein and no hold-ups.

The driving force behind this challenge is to raise vital funds for the charity's ongoing campaign to raise 'Prostate Awareness' across Dumfries & Galloway and in addition to the challenge, which you can sponsor, they've organised THREE race nights, thanks to some generous people, one a few weeks ago at The Dumfries & Galloway Golf Club, the next being at Dickies Bar Dumfries, this Friday 29th, and then at the Lochar Inn, Locharbriggs on June 13th. Everyone is welcome, please come along, it's great fun and all for a good cause.

To top it all, there's a grand raffle and the guys have arranged tours of major football grounds and distilleries, plus loads more cracking prizes.

What's not to love about these guys?. Please support them in any way you can and the charity will do the rest, as every penny raised for Prostate Buddies D & G is used right here in Dumfries & Galloway and remember, we are a totally voluntary group.

Good, kind hearted people are still out there and these two, Craig Geddes and his mum, Barbara, certainly fit the bill.
The unassuming wee collecting tin that sits on their counter at Starskys, Castle Street, Dumfries, was emptied today, for the umpteenth time and it's contents took the running total to a magnificent £1,018.40 !!!
Prostate Buddies D & G can and has done an awful lot with that kind of money.
Our grateful thanks to them both, for their ongoing and loyal support.

Here's what you should be doing this Friday. Having a great night out whilst raising funds for our cause.

Today's Tractor Run, organised by the Retired Farming Social Group, in aid of Prostate Buddies D & G and Brain Tumour Research, was a sight to behold, as it wound it's way from Twynholm, via Borgue, Gatehouse and other beautifully sunlit areas, before getting back to Twnholm.
Here they all are, at the Gatehouse lunch halt, resplendent with their bespoke rally plates.
Many thanks to the group for 'raising awareness'.

Last night's match was a great success and well attended. They think it's all over, but it isn't! as post match drinks will be taken at Greens, Dumfries tonight and the rattle cans will still be in attendance. Many thanks to Greens for covering all the costs of last night's event and to Greystone Rovers over 35's, for lacing the boots on again.

A very special 'thank you' today, to one of my musical theatre friends, Ren Fourteath, who this week delivered a cheque for £200 to PB D& G as part of the ticket money from the Christmas 2025 production of 'Rock Nativity', a wonderful musical written by herself and father Euan (both pictured). The other picture is of the happy cast of the Fledgling Theatre Company, following a sell-out matinee performance of the show, in its 30th year. Thank you so much Ren. Very much appreciated. Roly
