Help shape the future of ELVES CIC in Dumfries!

We’re a growing community interest company addressing social isolation and creating opportunities for skills development through two complementary strands:

• Gardening with befriending, volunteering and practical learning- helping people connect, build confidence and develop skills.

• Guardian Angel home monitoring- our developing, innovative non-intrusive system to support wellbeing and independent living.

We’re looking for an unpaid Director with proven business experience, sound financial judgement and enthusiasm for making a difference! A background in social care, volunteering or the voluntary sector would be particularly welcome.

This is an opportunity to help guide both sides of our work, strengthen governance and build a sustainable future, not a day-to-day operational role.

Ideally based in Dumfries or nearby, and able to attend agreed meetings at our office at The Crichton.

The appointment is unpaid. Future remuneration may be considered if sustainable revenue allows, but is not guaranteed.

As we head into the colder months, here’s a little Transformation Tuesday from the Elves team! ⭐️

This outdoor space was in need of some TLC, so we got to work clearing the weeds, tidying up and making the area much more manageable.

With winter approaching, keeping outdoor spaces safe, accessible and manageable can make such a difference, especially for people who may need a little extra support.

Another job done, another space made better. 💚

A great big thank you to everyone who came along and got stuck in!

It was brilliant to see everyone getting involved, learning about our local natural biodiversity and getting stuck into the new raised beds at Linculden Community Centre.

It’s been brilliant to be one of the many organisations who have been involved in Climate Week across the community!

• Help build new raised beds for the community centre
• Take part in a walk and talk around Popeye’s Park
• Learn about collecting, identifying and gathering native tree seeds
• Enjoy a BBQ courtesy of Lincluden CommunityCentre!

Whether you fancy getting stuck into the activities, enjoying the BBQ or simply spending a few hours outdoors with the family, everyone is welcome!

🌿 Gardening Service Update 🌿

For the time being, we are not taking on any new free gardening clients. We hope to offer this service again soon when funding allows.

Our paid gardening service is still available!

Transformation Tuesday! 🌿

Another brilliant before & after from Jay!

Jay was out helping a local resident by clearing the weeds and overgrowth along the edge of their property, creating a cleaner, tidier and more accessible pavement for everyone to use.

It’s amazing what a little time and care can do, swipe to see the transformation!

A big well done to Jay and all our Elves team for another job making a visible difference in our local community!

We’re still busy behind the scenes at Rosefield Mills, with work continuing to help bring the site back to life.

We thought we’d give you a little glimpse of what we’ve been getting up to so far, from getting stuck into the clean-up to making a start on the work that’s still ongoing.

Transformation Tuesday 🌱

A little garden TLC goes a long way! This space was looking a little overgrown and neglected, so we’ve been giving it some much-needed attention, clearing the weeds, tidying the beds and bringing the garden back to life.

At ELVES CIC, we love seeing the difference a little time, care and community support can make. 🌿 Our team works to support people across Dumfries & Galloway and help create positive change in our local communities.
