MEN IN KITCHENS ARE BACK!!!!

Our Men-in-Kitchens project is back and we are ready to get going. To do this we have decided to launch a couple of taster days to gain interest and let men sample what these are like and plan dates for the first round.

See the leaflet attached for all of the details such as the dates and how to book your place.

We are looking for men who may:

🍴Live in a household of one
🍴Care for a loved one a significant amount of time or
🍴Whose own health may put them a risk of social isolation

The above group of men are not our sole targets and we will be recruiting for other groups as well.

We are looking for volunteers to help within specific roles enabling us to provide better, and more, activities/services to the local residents of Tameside both here at The Shed and outreach sessions too. 🎥BEHIND THE SCENES🎥

So last week we had a visit from Made By Mortals who are working on a new project with Action Together involving a range of community groups and charities like us.

This involved an interview, some footage of the guys working and an obligatory selfie of course. It was a pleasure working with the MBM team again and they even caught Mick learning a bit on the lathe, only took him 4 years to have a go. 😂

WOW!!

We are really pleased to be able to tell you that the total amount raised from our coffee morning last Saturday is a grand total of £238 for the raffle and donations made too!

From everyone here at The Shed, we want to say a huge thanks to those of you who helped to make our event such a success & even more thanks to those who joined us & assisted us in raising this for our charity.

It was a really busy morning so we didn’t have time to do an exact head count but we reckon that some 30-40 people attended . Many still didn’t want to leave after the official closing time of 1pm which shows it was a good event. 😋

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐WE GOT 5 STARS!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

So we had a visit today from the Tameside Environmental Health team to inspect our kitchen and procedures. I am pleased to say we have achieved the top rating of 5 stars! 💪

This means we are good to go to restart our Men-in-Kitchens project. Keep your eyes peeled as further details will be posted soon.

We want to thank The Morrisons Foundation and Morrisons Dukinfield Community Champions for their help and funding for our kitchen, we are so pleased with what we have been able to build and to achieve this rating too.

Thank you to the Tameside Reporter for coming down for a quick interview with our Shed Coordinator Mike, and one of our Trustees Maria, ahead of our coffee morning tomorrow.

Free tea, coffee and cakes and a show round who we are and what we do. We will be having a raffle and donations are also welcome.

We hope to see you tomorrow.
