Positive news on the Local Plan and protecting the green belt

A new report has been published by Amber Valley Council which was approved at a Full Council Meeting on 8th June. This news is encouraging as it states that the Council believes that there is enough land available to meet the identified level of housing need up to 2039 without the need to delete any land from the green belt.

However, at the same time, the Council has set a level of housing need which is 25% higher than that required according to the ‘standard method’ of calculation approved by Central Government. They have also stopped short of providing a firm commitment to protect all green belt land as part of their new proposals.

The Council is planning additional Consultation and engagement activity during July and August. We will be in contact once we know more and provide you with details as to how you can respond to this.

In addition, we would also like to remind you of the activity underway to apply for a well-used walking route to be designated as a public right of way and how you can support this
