We had a great visit to Buchanan Hydro with Stuart and Anand from Forth Environment Link yesterday. Forth Environment Link are supporting our work to set up the Energy Club, so it was great to show them round the hydro and tell them more about it.

We have received some reports of sightings of blue-green algae at loch shores across the National Park, including around Loch Earn and Loch Lomond.

Blue-green algae can produce toxins that can kill dogs and other animals. In humans it can cause rashes after skin contact and illnesses if swallowed.

Blue green algae blooms can form on the water and dissipate again within hours or days, depending on the weather and the water temperature. Due to this changeful nature of blue green algae blooms we recommend people err on the side of caution if they know there has been a warning in recent days.

If you believe you have spotted Blue-Green Algae and there are no warning signs present on the shore, please contact the environmental health team at your Local Authority. Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) can also be contacted.

Macmillan coffee morning tomorrow at Kilmaronock Old Kirk

Kilmaronock Old Kirk is hosting a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Wednesday 23 September from 10.00am-12.00pm. Please park in the Church Carpark with footpath to the Kirk.
There will be plenty of coffee and tea with delicious cakes and a raffle.
Do come along and join us to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
£5.00 donation at the door please.

Visits to Buchanan Community Hydro - 24 and 27 September

Buchanan Community Hydro scheme is the generator that is all set to power our local energy club. It runs down the hill just behind Milton of Buchanan. If you’d like to find out how it works, then this is your chance to have a guided tour and hear all about it.

We have two tours planned:

- 10 am on Thursday 24 September
- 2.30 pm on Sunday 27 September
