The DiMobile
Five years ago, a very good friend of Sue’s passed away as a result of terminal cancer.
Three weeks before she passed, Dianne asked Sue to take her car and make good use of it for the benefit of Jordan Bear Charity. At the same time, her two beloved dogs, originally rescued and homed with Dianne by Jordan Bear Charity, were to come back to the Charity for rehoming together on her demise.
Her little black car, complete with her dents and scratches (the visible results of Dianne’s near misses), joined our other Charity vehicles and her two dogs were, in line with her wishes, subsequently rehomed, together, to a couple in Cheltenham.
In memory of such a special lady and much loved friend and supporter of JBC, we named that little black car the ‘DiMobile’.
The DiMobile was put to work transporting sick and injured dogs to safety, collecting donated goods, attending our weekly sales functions and, most Wednesdays, visiting the JBC kennels.
The DiMobile is like a little ‘Tardis’ and many people, mostly men, have questioned how much can be squeezed into such a small car – the usual comment being “you won’t get all that in there”, swiftly followed by the looks of disbelief when we do actually ‘get all that in there’.
This little car has been invaluable to the Charity and, despite running up the miles while loaded to the gunwhales, she has kept going.
One of our rescues, a very special girl with a truly appalling pre-rescue back story, was absolutely terrified of people but, she was able to find solace while sitting in the back of the DiMobile, her very own ‘safe space’ where she could watch the world go by behind the safety of the windows. Indeed, it proved so much her ‘safe space’ that, when the time came for her to cross the Rainbow Bridge, she passed peacefully in the back of ‘her’ car.
Sue had never been able to understand how people could love their cars, but she does now – this little black car means the world to her and, to Jordan Bear Charity.
In 2025, the prospect of her getting through another MOT test looked very doubtful but, the brilliant team at Blue Door Fleet Services in Droitwich put her back together and she was soon back to transporting poor souls from despair to hope and new lives. Dianne would be so proud.
As the 2026 MOT test got nearer and nearer, we knew how tired the DiMoile was and estimated that the necessary repairs to get her through another year would cost somewhere in the high hundreds of pounds, certainly more than she was worth but, in her heart of hearts, Sue knew she couldn’t let that little black car go.
So, for a second year, the wonderful team at Blue Door stepped in and weaved their magic.
Most garages would have said “scrap it – it’s not worth the effort”, but not these people; they understood the emotional attachment and treated the situation with the utmost care and respect.
The little black car went into ‘intensive care’ for a few days and Blue Door breathed new life into her.
She came home today having undergone extensive repairs, complete with a new MOT Certificate and, now that she doesn’t need a sick note, will be back at work on Saturday, raising much needed funds for our work with abandoned and mistreated dogs.
Words are cheap – and ‘Thank You’ is nowhere near enough to portray our gratitude to the team at Blue Door; not only have they put her back together, fit for at least another year but, their financial donation has been truly overwhelming and so, from the bottom of our hearts, we wish to thank the whole team:

Without your efforts, the Charity would have struggled to continue and, because of you, the DiMobile will now be able to carry on helping to save more lives by transporting many more lost and damaged souls to a bright and secure future.
To quote directly the words of Rob at Blue Door:
"The timing of the car needing an MOT, the remedials and the direct association that both Sue has to the car, and the birthday of “our little girl” Tessy, I just feel it was all meant to be. The world does work strangely! But always in such a good way.
I am honestly so glad we were able to help and support keeping the Dimobile on the road hopefully for a good time to come."
In Memory of ‘Tessy’, who would have been 19 years old this week
