Friends of Slieve Patrick

Friends of Slieve Patrick Our aim is to encourage people to visit our memorial to St Patrick and enjoy the peace and serenity of the beautiful Slieve Patrick, Saul.

Slieve Patrick is located in Saul, Co. Down and is home to an impressive national monument to St Patrick. The people of Saul are immensely proud of its association with our patron saint and the statue on Slieve Patrick is a fitting symbol of this pride. The religious site is owned by the Diocese of Down & Connor and is open to the public. Slieve Patrick means different things to different people.

For many it is a place of worship. For others, it is somewhere to breathe fresh air and take in the spectacular views from the top of the mountain. For children, Slieve Patrick is about enjoying the open space - picnics, playing roly poly and hide and seek, rolling eggs at Easter. Whatever the reason for visiting, all are welcome. Our only request is that all visitors show the respect that should be afforded to a religious site. We would like to see more people enjoy Slieve Patrick and we hope to promote the site as an attraction to a wider audience. Our aim is to improve facilities for visitors with new toilets a priority. We would like to add new features that will enhance the existing site such as new artefacts and a garden. We are currently working on plans that will help us achieve our goals and we hope to present them soon.
